Chapter 2992: I Know You Sent the Assassins

Ning Shu stayed in the library until it closed.

She didn’t wait for Yu Liuli and returned to the Yu residence.

Upon arriving, she went directly to find Yu Xiongfeng.

“I have something to discuss with you,” Ning Shu said straightforwardly.

When Yu Xiongfeng saw Ning Shu, his expression became wary and slightly tense. He cupped his hands in salute and asked, “What brings you here, Sir?”

“Yu Liuli was attacked by assassins last night,” Ning Shu said as she observed Yu Xiongfeng’s expression.

Yu Xiongfeng frowned, then nervously asked, “Is Liuli okay? She didn’t mention it to me this morning.”

Ning Shu took a sip of tea. “Let’s be honest. I know you sent the assassins to kill Yu Liuli.”

Yu Xiongfeng couldn’t help but laugh. “Sir, you must be joking. Liuli is my granddaughter. Why would I want to kill her?”

“So, Liuli’s growing strength might not necessarily be good for the Yu family. That’s why you sent those people last night.”

The assassins had precise information about where Yu Liuli lived and which room was hers. The culprit was most likely someone within the residence.

“Sir, you jest. The Yu family forbids internal strife. Besides, Liuli is my granddaughter, the only bloodline left by my beloved youngest son,” Yu Xiongfeng said calmly.

“What if Liuli isn’t the same Liuli as before? Wouldn’t that make it easier for you to act?” Ning Shu said nonchalantly.

Yu Xiongfeng’s face twitched slightly. “Liuli is Liuli. How could she not be herself?”

Ning Shu didn’t believe him. It was said that it was easier to move a mountain than it was to change someone’s personality. How could a person’s personality change so suddenly, especially so drastically?

“I wasn’t trying to hold you accountable for sending assassins to kill Yu Liuli,” Ning Shu said, pulling out a piece of paper. “I want to ask you for a favor.”

“Please prepare the materials listed here.”

The Yu family was a large and influential household, so she believed they could provide the items she needed.

Right now, Ning Shu urgently required the soul-nourishing pill.

If her soul continued to deteriorate, she might end up as a fool due to her severely fragmented soul.

Yu Xiongfeng took the paper and, after reading it, shook his head. “These materials are too rare; our Yu family doesn’t have them.”

Ning Shu then took out another piece of paper and pushed it toward him. “In exchange, I can help you refine the heavens-mending pill to repair Yu Linglong’s dantian.”

Yu Xiongfeng quickly picked up the paper, but upon seeing the listed materials, his expression turned troubled.

The items required were even rarer.

He respectfully asked Ning Shu, “Are you also an alchemist, sir?”

Ning Shu nodded. “Don’t worry. As long as you gather the materials for me and provide a pill furnace, I guarantee I’ll make you the heavens-mending pill.”

Yu Xiongfeng appeared tempted but hesitated. Finally, he asked, “Does Liuli know about this? Does she approve of you refining the heavens-mending pill to repair Linglong’s dantian?”

Ning Shu shook her head. “She doesn’t know. Consider this a transaction between you and me. Naturally, I wouldn’t be foolish enough to tell her.”

“If you’re willing to cooperate, we can swear an oath,” Ning Shu added.

Yu Xiongfeng cupped his hands in salute and said, “I naturally have trust in you, Sir. I’ll start gathering the materials right away.”

Both Ning Shu and Yu Xiongfeng swore an oath, essentially forming a binding contract. Violating the agreement would invoke heavenly retribution.

With this safeguard, things became much simpler.

Yu Xiongfeng visibly relaxed after seeing Ning Shu swear the oath. “Thank you for helping Linglong. If she truly recovers, I’ll have her follow by your side to serve you.”
