Little Pudding took a bite, then spit it out with an equally disgusted look: “It doesn’t taste good.”

Su Hongxing held back her laughter and said to Little Pudding, “How about Mom makes you a few more fried eggs?”

Little Pudding’s eyes curved into happy crescents, nodding enthusiastically. When Su Hongxing brought out the fried eggs, Little Pudding was so thrilled that he danced around: “Dad, Mom’s fried egg is so pretty and so delicious.”

“I made a few for you too. Want to try?” Su Hongxing, knowing Ye Qilan felt defeated, had already come up with a plan to console him.

At ten in the morning, Su Hongxing received a call from Little Pudding.

“Dad’s been in the kitchen cooking all morning. Every time he finishes a dish, he makes me taste-test it.” Little Pudding sighed in a world-weary tone: “It’s really bad.”

“Give the phone to your dad.”

Little Pudding trotted over to the kitchen door in his slippers and shouted loudly, “Dad, Mom wants to talk to you!”

Ye Qilan, covered in a mess, took the phone and said, “Honey, do you miss me already?”

“You have zero talent for cooking. Stop tormenting Little Pudding. I’m worried that if she eats too much of your cooking, her stomach will suffer. What’s gotten into you? Why are you suddenly trying to learn how to cook?” Su Hongxing asked, clearly puzzled.

Skipping work just to practice cooking–Ye Qilan truly was an oddball.

“Just thought I’d try it since I was bored,” Ye Qilan answered, eliciting a mocking laugh from Su Hongxing.

Ye Qilan heard the laugh loud and clear. “What are you laughing at? I’m serious–I really was bored, so I thought I’d give it a shot.”

What was wrong with that?

How dare this woman mock him?

“Ye Qilan, stop putting on an act. I know you too well. Asking you to set foot in the kitchen is like a death sentence. You’re the kind of man with a macho streak who believes men dedicated to business have no place in the kitchen.” Su Hongxing sneered, exposing his lie.

Ye Qilan chuckled when he heard this: “Honey, you really do understand me.”

In this world, no one understood him better than Su Hongxing. After all, she loved him so much. If that was the case, there was no way another Ye Qilan could ever steal her away.

“So, no more lying to me in the future. Just be honest–why the sudden desire to cook? Who gave you the crazy idea to mess up Little Pudding’s meals?” Su Hongxing brought him back to the topic at hand.

Ye Qilan glanced at Little Pudding and instantly knew the child had tattled to Su Hongxing.

“I just wanted to make a delicious meal for you. That’s why I’m seizing every chance to practice. Once I’ve mastered it, you’ll enjoy the best food ever. Honey, I want you to be proud of me,” Ye Qilan said, his smile reaching his eyes.

He knew Su Hongxing’s soft spot, and by saying this, he was sure to bring her joy.
