Chapter 16: Boris’ Attitude

Mary was very determined. “Mrs. Donovan, I think we’d better teach Miss Jowett to follow the rules here as soon as possible so that we may have a more pleasant time together in the future.”

Nina stretched out her hand and summoned Green Wolf to her feet upon hearing this. When Mary heard this, she couldn’t help but interject. “Mrs. Donovan, wouldn’t that be spoiling Miss Jowett too much? Mind you, there’s no refrigerator in either Cathy’s or Young Master Claude’s bedroom, and Miss Cathy has already brought this up many times.”

At that moment, Boris’ laughter could be heard from afar.

Soon, Boris appeared at the door of the dining room.

“You’re all up so early? Hmm? What’s going on?” Boris smiled as he walked into the kitchen, noticing that there was a strange atmosphere.

Mary hastily told Boris the whole story again.

Molly looked at Boris awkwardly. Although she and Boris were a loving couple, Boris had always valued rules.

Boris glanced at Nina before lowering his head and muttering to himself. “Yes, putting a refrigerator in Nina’s room can solve the problem. Molly darling, you’re so smart.”

Boris wrapped his arm around Molly’s waist, and they kissed as if there was no one else around.

Mary looked at Mr. Milton in disbelief. Was this still the Mr. Milton who always valued the rules of the house?

How could he be so willful toward a stepdaughter?

Boris also asked for Nina’s opinion. “What do you think, Nina? I’ll put a refrigerator in your room and fill it with the drinks you like. Your precious pet can fetch water for you at any time, but you must forbid it to rummage through the kitchen refrigerator again. After all, our family has a dutiful and well-mannered helper, Mary, don’t we?”

Boris winked at Nina.

Nina shrugged in agreement.

Although she was unhappy that Little Green could not step into the kitchen, she respected the rules and suggestions of the Miltons.

After all, this was not her original place, nor was it a place where she had the final say.

Nina turned and sauntered out of the kitchen. When she reached the door, she whistled, and Green Wolf immediately followed, always keeping half a body’s distance behind her.

Molly snuggled into Boris’ arms. “Oh honey, thank you.”

Boris hugged Molly gently. “That’s what I’m supposed to do. But I’d really like to ask Nina how she trained a dog to be so obedient. Even the best military dog I’ve ever seen feels less obedient than hers.”

Molly giggled. “Come on, Boris. You don’t own dogs.”

Standing close by, Mary turned, feeling discouraged, and went to do her work.
