It was getting late. There was mottled light and shadow in the living room.

At eight in the evening, the sound of engines could be heard outside the building.
With a suit jacket and tie draped over Brad’s arm and his neckline half-open, he told Hans a few things after alighting from the car. Then, he swaggered into the house.
There was a small night light on the porch. After putting his suit jacket down, he casually swept his gaze over the living room. He saw Susan lying on the sofa with a pillow in her arms, sleeping soundly.
Her curly black hair was spread out and the tip of her nose was slightly raised. Her quiet sleeping look was exquisite and gentle. Under the dim night light, a few inconspicuous rays of light jumped on her face. Compared to when she was awake, she looked less agile but more delicate.
The man’s gaze was deep and far. Perhaps he was too focused. The woman’s thick and long eyelashes fluttered for a while. Then, she slowly opened her eyes.

She was adorable and in a daze.
After a while, under the man’s gentle gaze, she brushed away her slightly messy hair strands, sat up, and said in a soft voice, “You’re back!”
Susan’s voice still contained traces of laziness after waking up. It was soft and sweet, and seemed to tug on his heartstrings.
Brad stood still and didn’t say anything. In the dim living room and the quiet atmosphere, the woman sat on the sofa and her cheeks were rosy and tender. A ‘you’re back’ seemed to indicate that she had finally waited for the return of her lover. A sense of tranquility formed in Brad’s heart.
“Why didn’t you sleep in the room?”
He suppressed the restlessness in his heart and said in a deep and low voice. His Adam’s apple slid along a sexy arc. He poured a glass of water and placed it on the marble coffee table in front of Susan.
“Oh…” Susan rubbed her eyes and picked up the glass of water. She drank a sip and moistened her throat. She said, “I just lay down for a while. I didn’t expect to fall asleep. Oh, right. Auntie Lucy left some dishes for you. I’ll help you take them out.”
This was what Auntie Lucy had specially instructed her after she finished tidying the rooms and before she left.
In the dining room, under the dazzling light, Susan placed the warm dishes on the table in a familiar fashion.
When she looked up, the man had already changed into casual home clothes and sat down.
“The dishes are still hot. Eat them quickly.”
After tidying everything, Susan turned around and wanted to leave. The moment the man picked up his cutlery, his eyes were clear. At the same time, his deep voice traveled, “How about you? Have you eaten?”
Susan paused and nodded gently. “Yes, I did in the afternoon. I’ll return to my room first. Enjoy.”

The moment Susan returned to her room, she leaned against the door and clutched her wildly beating heart.
