Standing under the spiral staircase, Madam Lincoln looked up and watched her until she was on the second floor. She muttered, “How worrying. The fourth son of the Quin family is so outstanding. Why is she still so picky?!”

In the study room, Brad sat opposite from John. The solid wood table in front of them had blueprints laid out.

John smiled and looked at Susan who was at the door. He put away the blueprints and nodded at the table. “You can place it here!”

Susan obediently put down the tea tray. The fragrance of tea leaves spread in the study room and smoothed her frowning eyebrows.

Just as she was about to turn around and leave, John said, “Accompany Brad for a while. I’m going to the washroom!”

Susan was speechless.

She opened her mouth and wanted to say something to reject. However, the scheming John strode out of the door under her conflicted gaze.

It was silent.

Susan stood at the side helplessly. Her eyes wandered around every corner of the study room except for Brad.

It was very embarrassing to be in the same room together like this!

At this time, Brad rolled up his sleeves and leaned forward to the table. He picked up the teapot and poured a cup of tea. The light in the study wasn’t bright. Under the warm yellow light, his eyes were deep and his thin lips curved slightly. “Are you planning to just stand there like that?”

“Cough…” Susan cleared her throat to ease the awkwardness. She pulled aside a wooden chair. After sitting down, a porcelain cup was placed in front of her. The man’s gentle voice traveled. “Throat not feeling well?”

Susan half-smiled and shook her head. “No.”

As he spoke, the man placed the porcelain cup to his lips. He lightly blew away the mist, enshrouding the sturdy lines of his facial features.

Susan’s scalp felt a little numb from his intense and direct gaze. She picked up the teacup and frowned, looking obedient.

His deep eyes seemed to be able to penetrate one’s heart. Locked in his sight, Susan felt an invisible tremor.

In order to cover her revealed emotions, she curled her fingertips and brought the teacup to her lips.

The restlessness and anxiety in her heart made Susan lose her sense of measure. She poured the cup of hot tea into her mouth… It! Was! So! Scalding! Hot!

The man placed his teacup down and stroked her back with his thick and warm palms. As he patted her lightly, his eyes were filled with a deep smile. He said helplessly, “Why are you so careless?”

Susan’s burnt tongue was numb and her eyes filled with tears. She pointed at him, then at herself. In the end, she could only get up and run out to find some water to cool down!

The man’s hand was still in midair in the study room. As he looked at Susan’s running back view, his eyes were full of emotions. A gentle smile appeared on the corners of his lips, which warmed his cold face.

After Susan returned to her room, she didn’t come out again. She didn’t know when Brad had left. She only heard the engine sound outside her window. She covered her head with a blanket and refused to hear about anything related to Brad.

She was wondering if this man was her jinx. Otherwise, why would she always make a fool of herself in front of him?

Susan didn’t sleep very soundly that night. In her dream, a pair of deep eyes seemed to follow her around. At six in the morning, she was awakened by her phone. She was tired and devoid of energy.

After reaching for her phone, she rubbed her eyes and picked up the call. “Hello?”
