Chapter 42: Is This What You Intended?

Yan Yiren clasped the corner of her blanket tightly. “It will happen one day. They’ll get what they deserve. Just not yet…”

To Yan Yiren, her father, Yan Ningkang, was no more than a stranger.

Even a stranger wouldn’t be as infuriatingly cold-blooded as he was. His wife and child ganged up on her before his very eyes, yet he turned a blind eye.

As long as Madame Yan remained in the Yan Family house, she would be oppressed by Yan Shudan and her mother.

As soon as Yan Yiren had turned eighteen, she had been chased out of the Yan Family house and had no choice but to live alone. Even being allowed to come back to visit her grandmother had become a luxury.

When it was almost time for Yan Yiren to finish work for the day, he called to ask her out for dinner, saying that he would come to pick her up.

Yan Yiren readily agreed. For the first time, she allowed him to wait for her at the front door of the office.

Ji Hanjiang was in disbelief. Hadn’t she always wanted to keep their relationship under wraps?

Even his meeting with her grandma had not been planned. It had only happened because Ruan Yufeng had refused to let Yan Yiren stay at the hospital with her grandmother, so she had asked Ji Hanjiang to come over.

Instead of saying that she wanted him to meet her grandmother, she might as well have said that she wanted to use his name to deal with the mother and daughter.

What was the big occasion today?

Wasn’t she afraid that their relationship would be exposed if she allowed him to wait at the entrance?

When it was almost time to finish work for the day, Yan Yiren completed all her work. She went to the restroom to touch up her makeup, before leaving.

Her colleagues walked out of the building in a few different groups. There was a red Ferrari right in front of the entrance. However, the luxury car wasn’t the main thing that Yan Yiren’s co-workers noticed. Their eyes focused on the man who was leaning against the car with a bouquet of roses in his hand.

Ji Hanjiang?

The female colleagues covered their mouths in surprise, staring at him in disbelief. They wondered which lucky person had Young Master Ji coming to pick her up.

“Yiren!”

As soon as he saw Yan Yiren, Ji Hanjiang gestured towards her and made his way over. Yan Yiren stood still, waiting for him.

“These are for you. Do you like them?” Ji Hanjiang passed the bouquet of roses over, a hint of a smile gracing his features.

He was already good-looking but when he smiled, he was an even greater heart-throb.

The jaws of Yan Yiren’s female colleagues dropped in astonishment!

Ji Hanjiang and Yan Yiren… When did this happen?

Could it be that they were together?!

Yan Yiren took the flowers and gave his handsome face a peck. “I love them.”

“Good.” With his hand on her back, Ji Hanjiang made his way to the passenger door, pulling open the car door as he placed his hand on the roof in a gentlemanly manner.

It was as if he was afraid that she would accidentally hit her head.

The interaction between the two was intimate and revealed their chemistry. It was as if something like this had happened a thousand times before. It didn’t feel forced at all.

As the Ferrari roared away, Yan Yiren’s co-workers glanced at each other in astonishment. “Have we… offended Yan Yiren?”

“The person you offended is Young Master Ji.” Mr. Chen’s words had even more impact than an atomic bomb.

The female colleagues turned pale with shock. “President, are Yan Yiren and Young Master Ji really together? Did they get to know each other due to the campaign we worked on with Ji Group?”

“How naive! The only reason our company was able to collaborate with Ji Group was because of Yan Yiren’s relationship with them. Her relationship with Young Master Ji has been going on for longer than she has been in the company.”

Yan Yiren had only been in the company for a year. That meant… She and Young Master Ji?

The female workers felt a chill down their spines. The crowd quickly dispersed as they fled, wondering how on earth they were going to make it up to Yan Yiren tomorrow.

In the car, Ji Hanjiang focused on the road ahead as he asked, “Is this what you intended?”
