There was tension in the air. The two of them felt as thoughthey had just powered through a critical moment of life and death. They looked at each other and a smile blossomed on their faces. They didn’t know that they could work so well together even in fights.

But taking care of this group of security guards did not mean it was the end of their adversity. They would have more waves of enemies to contend with as more security guards swarmed toward them.

Lu Jia’er threw the gun in her hand off to the side and picked up another one, ready to fight another battle.

Just as they had expected, another group of security guards rushed over. Working perfectly together like Neo and Trinity from The Matrix, Jin Xiangdong and Lu Jia’er took care of this batch of security guards quickly.

Most of the credit had to go to Lu Jia’er but Jin Xiangdong was not useless by any means. At such a nerve-wracking moment, Lu Jia’er did not have the chance to appreciate Jin Xiangdong’s battle scenes. That being said, with the great chemistry between them, Lu Jia’er and Jin Xiangdong were like superheroes in an action movie.

After they were done with this batch, they realized they were in an even worse situation. Soon, they were surrounded by even more security guards.

Instead of engaging in the fight immediately, Jin Xiangdong and Lu Jia’er were staring at the security guards, highly alert. At exactly that moment, they heard a voice, “Stand down!”

The security guards on the right moved away to clear a path. Then, Jin Xiangdong and Lu Jia’er saw Jin Xianglan walking toward them.

Jin Xianglan stood in front of the security guards who were wearing black uniforms in her white coat. If this were a movie, she would be the mastermind behind all this.

“Ace, Professor Lu, cut it out!” Jin Xianglan warned them.

Lu Jia’er had no kind feelings for Jin Xianglan here. However, Lu Jia’er did not know what suitable word could be used to describe Jin Xianglan.

A brilliant scientist? Or… a horrifying demon?

Jin Xiangdong stared at Jin Xianglan. When Colin came to Jin Xiangdong, the former told the latter some matters. Jin Xiangdong had come to the understanding that Lu Jia’er was created by his father and his sister.

Jin Xiangdong found this information astonishing. He didn’t even have time to digest this news yet. For the life of him, he could not comprehend that the team behind Lu Jia’er was his dearest family.

He had been chasing behind a team that was much stronger than his but it had been a wild goose chase. He thought the team was like a ghost. Little did he know that the team was his own family. Yet there was still some confounding points that he had not had the time to comb through yet.

Jin Xiangdong broke the silence by saying, “Sister, I beg you. Please let Jia’er go!”

Jin Xianglan looked at him and then Lu Jia’er. “I didn’t say I would not let her go.”

“I know that Jia’er was created by you! For this matter, I only have one remark. Jia’er is not a machine. She is a living person!” Jin Xiangdong said.

Jin Xianglan gazed at him. She could tell that Lu Jia’er had not told him the secret yet. “We never treated her like a machine.” Jin Xianglan said.

“Then let her go!” Jin Xiangdong repeated.

“Sure. But first, put down your guns!” Jin Xianglan tried to persuade them.

Lu Jia’er stared at Jin Xianglan. “You will not spare me.” She sounded detached.

Lu Jia’er’s words quickly caught the attention of Jin Xiangdong and Jin Xianglan.

Jin Xianglan put a smile on her face with a calculating expression. “I will let you go for the sake of my little brother.”

But Lu Jia’er was not convinced. How would the father and daughter let her go when she knew their secret? They would delete everything she knew if not destroying her.

“On what condition?” Lu Jia’er glared at Jin Xianglan.

“We don’t talk about conditions since we are a family.” Jin Xianglan replied.

Lu Jia’er found those words full of irony. She could not help but sneer. “Are we a family?”
