Chapter 5: Buying a House

“What about you? What did you want to tell me?” Noticing that Alger hadn’t spoken, Winnie asked.

“I’ll tell you later.” Alger smiled.

“Okay.”

He thought that he shouldn’t tell Winnie that he was buying a house for now. He should buy it first and give Winnie a surprise at a suitable time.

Winnie’s birthday was coming soon. He would tell her the news on her birthday.

Winnie took Alger to a small neighborhood. The building looked very shabby, but the interior was very clean. There were two rooms.

After entering, Winnie said to Alger, “There are two rooms, one for each of us.”

She then pushed open the door and walked inside.

Alger liked Winnie not only because Winnie was gorgeous, but also because he had lived with Winnie for a long time. He knew Winnie was a very good woman. She was beautiful, smart, kind and polite. That was why he hoped that they would become a real couple so that he could take care of Winnie for his entire life.

After pondering for a while, Alger took out his phone and contacted Winnie’s best friend, Alina.

“Alina, it’s Alger. I need your help.”

“Alger?” Knowing that it was Alger on the other side of the phone, Alina’s voice became very cold. She directly rejected Alger. “I’m sorry. I don’t have time.”

Alger certainly knew that Alina looked down on him, but he knew she didn’t have any bad intentions. She just felt bad because Winnie had married someone like him.

“I’m going to buy a house for Winnie. Her birthday is coming and I want to give her a surprise. But I don’t know much about these things so I need your help,” Alger said.

“What?” Alina’s surprised voice came from the other side of the phone.

“Don’t tell Winnie yet. I’ll wait for you at Bode Villas.”

After hanging up, Alger directly went to the sales office of Bode Villas. Around 20 minutes later, Alina arrived.

Alina came over and sized Alger up in doubt. She asked, “You want to buy a house? Where did you get the money?”

“In fact, I bought lottery tickets…” Alger told her the reason he prepared beforehand.

“Hm, do you think I’m a fool?” Alina rolled her eyes and said indifferently, “You don’t have to tell me. It’s not my money anyway!”

Alger smiled in embarrassment. He swallowed his unfinished sentence and walked into the sales office.

Alina frowned as she looked at his back. She hesitated for a while before following him inside.

The houses of Bode Villas indeed had a very trendy and edgy design. They were very famous villas. On top of that, people who lived here normally had a pretty high social status.

There were a lot of people in the sales office. A dozen saleswomen in the same uniform walked around, but none of them came to talk to Alger.

Alger, who was being ignored, didn’t feel embarrassed at all. When he saw something, his eyes suddenly brightened and he strode over.

Noticing the direction he was heading to, Alina was a bit mad.

“Alger, are you nuts? The models presented here aren’t something ordinary people can buy.” Alina said as she stared at him.

Alger was shocked. He asked, “Huh? The houses here aren’t for sale?”

“They are. But look at these models, can you afford them?” Alina glared at him again.

The models in front of Alger all were very large in size. Houses of Bode Villas were already quite expensive, no need to mention those large ones. So, very few people would come to this corner.

The saleswoman responsible for introducing this group of houses saw Alger and was a bit surprised. She was about to come over, but after she noticed how Alger was dressed, the surprise in her eyes disappeared. However, she still walked over.

“Hello, sir.” After saying a perfunctory greeting, she stood aside quietly.

However, Alger looked at the saleswoman and asked, “Which is the best house here?”

The saleswoman didn’t make things difficult for them anymore. She pointed to somewhere with a smile and explained, “Here. It has the largest square footage and has a very unique design.”

“Wow, that house is pretty!” Before Alger could speak, a woman’s voice came from afar.

Alger looked over and saw three people walking towards them, including a middle-aged man with a huge tummy with a sexy woman holding his arm and a young man following behind them.

Having a clear look at the young man, Alger was a bit surprised.

That young man was his best friend at college, Tommy. Alger had lent him a sum of money in the past, but Tommy still had not paid him back. When Alger’s mother was sick, he had called Tommy for help, but Tommy wasn’t willing to lend him any money.

That moment was the time when he saw Tommy’s true self clearly.

Alger stood there, which happened to block the sight of that sexy woman. The woman frowned and said to the saleswoman in front of her, “Do you serve all kinds of customers here?”

Hearing what she said, the saleswoman was startled and looked a little embarrassed.

When Alger heard this, he looked at the woman in front of him with cold eyes.

“Oh, can people like them also get in? Are you having a hard time selling the villas here?” The woman held onto the arm of the middle-aged man and looked at Alger in front of her with disdain.

The woman wore very sexy clothing, but she looked pretty young, which didn’t seem to match the middle-aged man next to her. Looking at them, Alger snickered.
