Jay had let her go just like that. Maisy actually felt a little regretful.

“What are you thinking about?” Jay watched Maisy staring at him without moving.

“Nothing.” Maisy was afraid that he would see through her thoughts, so she replied somewhat awkwardly.

Jay suddenly leaned close to her again. “Maisy, I’l let you go just this once. Next time, you’d better be prepared.”

“Good night. I’m going to sleep.” Jay’s tone was breezy.

“You can go sleep with Lucas.” Maisy stopped him. “That bedroom hasn’t been cleaned for a long time.”

Jay nodded and left the room. ‘Lucas should be very happy,’ Maisy couldn’t help but think.

The next morning, Maisy woke up very early. Because she knew that there was someone else in her home, she wanted to wake up early and make an extra portion of breakfast. She didn’t expect to see the scene of a loving father and a filial son the moment she stepped out of the room.
Lucas had always been very sensible. Usually, when she cooked, he would come over and help with things that he could do. Today was no exception. However, the person he was helping was Jay.

This was the first time Maisy saw Jay cooking. He was wearing the pink apron that she had bought. He was busy in the kitchen and didn’t notice her presence at all.

Lucas was talking to Jay at the side. Both of them were laughing very happily.

“Mom!” Lucas turned around and finally found Maisy standing at the door. He ran to her happily and said, “Mr. Hamilton is cooking for us. It looks delicious!”

Maisy patted his head and didn’t say anything. Seeing that the two of them got along so well, she had mixed feelings. For so many years, Lucas had grown up with only her taking care of him. “Come and eat.” Jay’s words interrupted her train of thought.
Maisy looked up at the man who was busy setting up the plates and she couldn’t help but smile.

After the meal, Maisy was about to start cleaning up the mess —
“Tl wash the dishes. You can go to work.” Jay’s tone was very gentle. It was a stark contrast to his demeanor when he was teasing Maisy yesterday.

‘Is he playing the role of a good father? Maisy thought. But she still nodded mechanically. She was used to Jay’s bossiness. Moreover, it was just washing the dishes, so there was no need to fight over it.
However, she had just changed her clothes when she heard the doorbell ring.

“Mom, it’s Mr. Smith!” Lucas ran over to tell her anxiously.

Maisy didn’t expect Bruce to come. For a moment, she was a little flustered. Another person was still in her home! If Bruce saw Jay, she wouldn’t be able to explain herself.
