“Honestly, there’s no way to be modest about this. Otherwise, people might think I’m just showing off!” Jian Dan replied unapologetically.

“Let’s go inside!”

“Hello, may I ask what brings you here?” The receptionist asked the two of them.

“We’re here to see Jian Xiaokai. You can just let us in directly!”

“Are you referring to Mr. Chu Jr.?”

“Mr. Chu Jr.?” Jian Dan had no idea her son was addressed like this in the company. “Yes, I’m here to see him.”

“Do you have an appointment?”

“An appointment?”

“This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a mom needing an appointment to see her son.” Fang Yuan said with a chuckle.

“Haha!” Jian Dan forced out a couple of awkward laughs at Fang Yuan’s comment.

“You just heard it too–does a mom need an appointment to see her own son?”

“I’m sorry, but if you don’t have an appointment, I can’t let you in.” The receptionist said.

“Didn’t I just say I’m his mom?”

“That’s what they’re saying too.” The receptionist pointed to a nearby sofa.

On the sofa sat two women at the moment.

A mom impersonator? Really, the world is full of oddities.

“I’m genuinely his mom!” Jian Dan said earnestly.

“That’s what they’re saying as well.” The receptionist replied with a polite smile.

“I really am his mom!”

“What are you talking about? I’m his real mom.” One of the women retorted.

“Don’t be ridiculous; I’m his real mom!” Another woman joined in.

As soon as Jian Dan spoke, the two women sitting on the sofa got up and walked over.

“You’re just a young girl. How could you pretend to be me? Have you even given birth?” One of the women said to Jian Dan.

For the first time, Jian Dan felt like meeting her own son was harder than she had ever imagined.

“Jian, why don’t you just call him?” Fang Yuan suggested.

“You’re right! They’ve confused me so much that I didn’t even think of that.” Jian Dan took out her phone and dialed a number.

Busy working in his office, Jian Xiaokai suddenly received Jian Dan’s call. “Mom, why are you calling me at this time?”

“I’m stuck downstairs at your office.” Jian Dan got straight to the point.

“You came to Yuanyi?” Jian Xiaokai paused his work for a moment.

“You know it, so why aren’t you coming down to get me?” Jian Dan felt humiliated for being stuck outside her son’s company, especially with a friend present.

After hanging up the call, both the receptionist and the two women stared at Jian Dan.

“Just wait. We’ll see who the real one is in a moment.” Jian Dan waved her phone confidently.

“Mom~ Why didn’t you tell me in advance you were coming?” Jian Xiaokai had arrived at the front desk.

“When I came home last night, you were already asleep, so I didn’t bother you. How was I supposed to know I’d get stuck outside the building today?”

“You haven’t visited Yuanyi since I took over, and now you’re suddenly here. Is there something going on?”

“What do you mean ‘something going on’? I’m here to bring you talent!”

“Talent?” Jian Xiaokai glanced at Fang Yuan behind Jian Dan.

“Exactly!”

“Alright, let’s discuss this upstairs then.”

“Wait a second~” Just as Jian Dan was about to leave, she suddenly remembered something. She turned around and walked over to the two women. “Weren’t you just loudly claiming to be his mom? Now that my son is here, why don’t you go and meet him?”

“Um… We might have come to the wrong place. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll head off now!” One of the women quickly started walking away.

“Oh, right! I just remembered–I left a pot cooking on the stove. I should go take care of it.” The other hastily followed suit.

Watching the two women flee in embarrassment, Jian Dan shook her head and followed Jian Xiaokai into the building.
