Chapter 22: Dilemma

Huang Guohua had his own opinions about his children. Although Ye Yang didn’t say much to him, Huang Guohua could sense the sharpness in his words. This was something only a person with confidence could possess.

For this reason, it wasn’t too hard for Huang Guohua to choose to compromise.

The older man also had his own viewpoints on this. At first, he assumed that Huang Ruobing had lost her mind. Apart from that, he also felt disdainful when he first met Ye Yang.

However, as their conversation went on, Huang Guohua got riled up despite how little Ye Yang spoke. The problem Huang Xudong caused was pretty significant and yet Huang Guohua was kept in the dark this whole time.

However, the young man before him had managed to help his son avoid a disastrous outcome, which prompted Huang Guohua to immediately start treating him with more respect.

“By right, I should remain silent about your relationship with Little Bing. But since you’ve gotten together with her, judging by He Dong’s personality, he’d never let you slip off so easily. You’re young and not that well-acquainted with He Dong so it’s a given that you have no idea how powerful he actually is.”

Huang Guohua’s words were not baseless claims. The background and influence He Dong possessed frightened even Huang Guohua so much that the older man refrained from pissing him off. Going by He Dong’s petty personality, he would never show Ye Yang mercy.

“I’m not an old-fashioned person, and honestly, social status isn’t a big issue for me. But now that you’ve gotten together with Little Bing and clashed with He Dong, I honestly doubt that he’d forgive you.”

This was something Ye Yang already knew, and he knew it better than anyone else. Smiling faintly at Huang Guohua, he said, “To be honest, this isn’t a big issue for me either. You may not be aware but earlier today, He Dong has already started his attack.”

It came as a surprise that Huang Guohua knew about it. While the older man didn’t know the motive behind the attack, he understood what sort of a person He Dong was. Still, he never expected this young man here to be able to escape the man’s set-up.

Standing before Huang Guohua, Ye Yang looked mildly shocked.

Even if Huang Guohua didn’t show his disapproval, Huang Ruobing was already engaged, and to a powerful man at that. So even if Huang Guohua didn’t object to their relationship, it would be a tough road ahead for the both of them.

“How did you do it?” Huang Guohua asked as his perception of Ye Yang grew more positive. The younger man was performing much better than he had expected.

Ye Yang told Huang Guohua everything about what happened earlier. After hearing him out, Huang Guohua was dumbstruck. True enough, something like this was a testament to his strength, courage, and wits.

For Ye Yang to be able to survive such a sudden accident was already quite a feat.

“I was able to avoid the accident today because I was lucky. But I know that there will be more of these accidents to come.” Ye Yang spoke with a leisurely tone, showing how unfazed he was by this. In fact, there were even hints of mockery and elegance in his tone.

“My situation with him has reached the point where it won’t end unless one of us dies.”

Huang Guohua raised his eyebrows at the man before him. This uncompromising and passionate young man wore a willful expression. To Huang Guohua, this was the symbol of youth and one of courage as well. “How do you plan to deal with him? Exact revenge, just like he would ?”

Since Ye Yang declared that their situation wouldn’t end unless one of them died, this signified that things were far from over. Ye Yang narrowed his eyes like a dignified predator and chuckled at Huang Guohua’s words. “How could I possibly? I’m a lawful person.”

When he said this, Ye Yang was grinning which proved how confident he was. In fact, for him to take He Dong’s life was all too easy.

There was madness mingled in He Dong’s personality. For this reason, the man was actually a frequent offender of the law. Otherwise, he would have never attempted to murder Ye Yang at the get-go.

Ye Yang was aware of this. He smiled at Huang Guohua, who already knew more or less what his plans were. Ye Yang was planning to tell the police what He Dong had been doing so that he would be apprehended under the law.

Although Huang Xudong’s blackmailing had caused people to resent him, which was a problem in and of itself, it was still a highly-effective plan nonetheless.

It wasn’t that Ye Yang didn’t consider this. He was immensely strong enough to use the Kunlun Mirror’s powers to kill He Dong off. But he chose not to.

Why? Ye Yang had indeed thought of this before only to quickly realize that it wasn’t worth it. If he killed He Dong, there was still the chance that he might leave clues behind.

The He family behind He Dong was a force to be reckoned with. Moreover, He Dong was considered a prominent figure. If Ye Yang killed him, there was a high probability he might leave clues that expose himself, and even be caught for murder. No matter how he thought about it, it wasn’t worth it.

Hence, for Ye Yang, the best option was to obtain evidence of He Dong’s crimes and then use them against him. However, He Dong had mostly been overseas for the past few years.

For whatever happened overseas, they could not be dealt with within the country, so the best option was to start from the matters that happened several years ago.

Ye Yang pondered for a little longer before coming up with a near-perfect plan. There must be someone who was familiar with He Dong in Riverside, and after brief contemplation, Ye Yang decided that his best choice would be Ye Wenxuan.

Ye Wenxuan was Wenxuan Group’s president, and also a part of the handful of individuals who were close to He Dong. According to Ye Yang’s guesswork, Ye Wenxuan was an individual with whom He Dong remained in contact in recent years.
