Ye Tianfeng frowned, not expecting to have shot himself in the foot. Had he known that Mu Ruyue had such talents, would he have withdrawn from the marriage in the first place?

“The Ghost King is unworthy of you; marrying me is your best bet.”

Inside the palace hall, Emperor Ziyue was sitting on his dragon chair and tapping a dragon’s head gently by his palm. His indifferent eyes sprinkled with a hint of majesty swept the crowd below him.

Like Mu Ruyue, there were also a few outstanding royal sons and grandsons in the royal clan, Ye Tianfeng among them.

With his eyes fixed on Mu Ruyue, Emperor Ziyue paused and said, “Qingyun School hosted this tournament, and even as Emperor, I was only tasked to hand out prizes on their behalf. The prize that Qingyun School will be awarding this time is a Storage Bag.”

Upon hearing this, the royal children all looked at Mu Ruyue enviously, knowing that this Storage Bag was a treasure and the only other person who had one here was Ye Tianfeng.

Mu Ruyue stepped forward to accept the storage bag from a eunuch. With a quick glance, she determined that this treasure was satisfactory. At least she wouldn’t have to worry about having no room for herbs in the future.

“In addition, there’s one more thing.” Emperor Ziyue frowned a bit and he said slowly, “I intend to withdraw my decree cancelling your marriage.”

Upon hearing this, Mu Ruyue laughed bitterly. She looked up at Emperor Ziyue and said without humility, “Your Majesty, as the Emperor, you should understand what a decree means. Would the Emperor of a country repeatedly go back on his word?”

Mu Ruyue’s uncouth criticism instantly turned the atmosphere serious. Everyone held their breaths and didn’t dare to utter a word for fear of offending the Exalted One.

Emperor Ziyue’s face turned gloomy as he looked at Mu Ruyue with cold eyes with the momentum of an emperor gushing forth and suppressing the girl beneath the throne.

However, the girl remained unaffected and merely stared at him plaintively.

“Mu Ruyue, are you going to disobey my will?” Emperor Ziyue was livid. It was obvious that Mu Ruyue’s refusal would only unearth His Majesty’s wrath.

The Emperor was indeed His Majesty. But no matter how strong the Emperor was, how could he compare to the Sect forces? Not to mention that he knew why the Ghost King’s parents died.

So if she were a waste, so be it. But since she wasn’t, they mustn’t be allowed to be together.

If she insisted, it would only perpetuate the problem.

Then and there, a disturbing noise burst into the hall which caused a crease on Emperor Ziyue’s forehead.

“Let go of me; my wife is in there. Let me in to see my wife. None of you will bully my wife.”
