The next morning, Ji Qingqing woke up in a daze. She glanced on the pillow beside her and found Lu Lixing still there, sleeping deeply.

Thinking about the time, Ji Qingqing grabbed her phone from the bedside and pressed it to check the time.

Eight-thirty.

She jolted.

Eight-thirty? So late?

She pushed Lu Lixing, but he didn’t even stir.

Lu Lixing woke up early and it was never later than eight o’clock. Ju Qingqing was worried about him and took a closer look at his face only to find it unusually redder. She touched his face and it was burning hot.

He was feverish.

“Lu Lixing! Wake up!” Ji Qingqing remembered that last night, Lu Lixing was outside in only his shirt while the sea breeze blew. He went to the sea, picked up a shell, and ended up scratching his palm. It wasn’t such a shock that he had a fever now.

When she thought of this, Ji Qingqing felt guilty. She should have considered his situation.

Now, things were still okay despite her being unprepared.

Lu Lixing was drowsy and he seemed to hear someone calling his name. He opened his eyes, still in a daze. When he tried to speak, his throat hurt.

He used his elbows to prop himself up, aware that he might have a fever.

Still in a trance, a hand reached out and touched his forehead.

Ji Qingqing’s soft hand wasn’t too hot or cold as she just woke up. To Lu Lixing, her hand was like an ice cube placed on his forehead, making him feel comfortable.

“So hot.” Ji Qingqing’s brow furrowed. “You have a fever. I’ll bring you to the hospital!”

However, Lu Lixing seized Ji Qingqing’s hand and continued placing it on his forehead to cool him down. He took a deep breath and waited for his dizziness to subside before saying to her, “There’s a first-aid kit in the room. It contains a thermometer and some cold medicine, help me get them.”

Ji Qingqing hurriedly looked for it. Lu Lixing chuckled and cleared his throat when he heard the loud sound of the living room overturned by her. Struggling to speak, he raised his voice and shouted, “It’s in the cabinet in my room.”

Ji Qingqing heard him and hurriedly went to Lu Lixing’s room. She found the first aid kit and brought it to Lu Lixing. She looked for the thermometer and handed it to him first, then she took out the bottle of pills. Ji Qingqing anxiously stared at the medicine bottle.

“This is for fever…” Ji Qingqing gave him the antipyretic medicine, then noticed that they lacked something. “Oh, water! I’ll get you… a glass of water!”

She went back to the living room and got him a glass of warm water.

Lu Lixing took the thermometer while holding the glass of water Ji Qingqing had prepared. He smiled and said, “It’s just a cold and a fever. It’s not something major, don’t be so nervous.”

She stared at him suspiciously. “You’re very hot. Don’t you want to go to the hospital? What if the wound is infected?”

He poured out a few tablets from the medicine bottle and mixed them with the water. Because of Ji Qingqing’s nagging, he compromised. “I’ll go to the hospital later.”

Ji Qingqing was relieved.

Lu Lixing forced his body to move. He propped himself, got up to wash, and after he changed his clothes, received a call from the company.

Without saying a word, he answered it, sat on the living room sofa, and talked for a while, then he hung up. He went to his room and turned on his computer.

Ji Qingqing cleaned the room and came out after but didn’t see him in the living room. When she checked in Lu Lixing’s room, he was using the computer, sitting on his chair, and facing his desk.

“What are you doing?”

“The company has something urgent and only I can deal with it. I have…” Before he finished his sentence, his head lowered, coughing, and feeling breathless.

“What’s more important, the company affairs or your health?” She calmly surveyed his face and physical condition, feeling worried. “Is it possible to deal with the company affairs after going to the hospital?”

Grandpa Lu was really right.

Whenever Lu Lixing got started with his work, he never wanted to stop.

Ji Qingqing went and got him some hot water.
