Chapter 20: Contextual Quizzes

Keith used his left hand to click on the answer that George had sent him. After a quick glance, he had a rough idea of the answer.
The feeling of victory in his grasp made him look at James provocatively. That calm and composed look always annoyed him. He had already entered the entertainment industry, so who was he pretending to be aloof for?
James’s attention was not on Keith at all. He was looking out of the corner of his eye at Kimberly playing with her phone while hugging a pillow on the sofa.
She really liked sofas and pillows. James could not help but think that her favorite thing to do at home was to lie on the sofa. Her fair and tender skin formed a stark contrast with the pure black leather.
“I initially wanted to play a few reasoning games.” The director patted his small blackboard, and the next second, there was another twist. “But for the sake of the show’s effect, I’ve decided to change to contextual quizzes at the last minute!”
“What…” Keith asked with a stiff face, “Isn’t it too hasty to change?”
Andrew could not help but laugh.
“Don’t you believe in my ability? I think this is a more suitable occasion to talk about a contextual quiz. It might be more exciting than a reasoning game.”
The director made up a story and began to tell the story. “A long time ago, ABC was three students studying in a medical school. One day, C walked into the classroom as usual and found the dissected B and the dead A beside him. Please tell me who the murderer is and why it happened. Please answer.”
Keith looked at George with a dark face, but he couldn’t help but sweat and worry.
“Because…” Keith came up with an idea in a hurry and answered before everyone else, “A is actually a murderer, but he usually disguises himself well?”
“It was indeed A who killed himmm…” The director dragged long the last sound. After seeing his happy expression, he suddenly told him with regret, “But it wasn’t because he was a murderer. I’m sorry for the wrong answer.”
James twirled the ring in his hand and said, “A was suffering from sleepwalking. He accidentally killed B while sleepwalking, and when he woke up, he couldn’t accept the truth and committed suicide.”
“Huh? There’s actually someone who can guess it?” The director’s intention to enjoy the show was suddenly dispelled. He said with regret, “Well, congratulations, James. If no one answered correctly, someone would have to stay in the nanny’s room.”
“Alright, the remaining three are divided equally on the second floor.”
When the camera crew went upstairs, they discovered a strange phenomenon. The luggage on the second floor became empty after they were done packing. The five of them gathered in the small living room on the third floor. Kimberly occupied the single-seater sofa, while James and Andrew sat on the left, Keith sat alone on the chair on the right, while the embarrassed Jennifer could only sit on the couch at the farthest corner.
Silence spread among the five of them. Kimberly looked at the people on the left and right who were clearly divided into small teams. She had no choice but to break the deadlock. “Um, I found this.”
She waved the card in her hand. On it was written: “Please work hard for tonight’s dinner!! Warm reminder: there is a vegetable patch one kilometer away from the villa.”
“It seems that we have to pick the vegetables ourselves?” Kimberly looked at both sides of the card carefully and found that there was only this short reminder. “Is there no food in the fridge?”
“No, there are only a few bottles of mineral water,” Andrew replied with a smile.
Kimberly sighed and said, “Only putting water in the fridge…”
“Huh?” James raised his head and asked, “Why?”
“No, it’s just exactly the same as someone I know.”
“You know him?” Keith grasped the key point and quickly cut in. “Kimberly, do I know him too?”
“My name is Kimberly Smith. Mr. Farmer, I don’t think we’re that close.” If she wasn’t so poor, Kimberly would have left Keith by now, however, she could only look at James for help. “Let’s go look for that vegetable patch?”
James nodded. It seemed that he had become quieter ever since there were more people. “It should be in the east.”
“How do you know?” Keith was filled with hostility towards him. He couldn’t help but retort.
James ignored him and went downstairs first, followed by Andrew and Kimberly. Jennifer looked left and right, then quickly followed, leaving Keith who was temperamental. He gritted his teeth and chose to go with them in the end.
Maybe James had led them the wrong way and he could take the opportunity to mock him in front of Kimberly. Keith clenched his fists and thought to himself.
They walked along the gravel road to the east and true enough, they saw the “vegetable patch” on the card.
“Isn’t this a farm?” Jennifer exclaimed. She pointed at the cows and sheep in the distance and asked, “Are we going to pick vegetables among them?”
