Li Lingcheng froze for a moment and was confused. He thought he had used too much force to grab Qin Nuan’s wrist. After seeing how red her wrist was from his grip, he relaxed his hand. 

“What sound?” 

To his surprise, Qin Nuan didn’t even look at him. She pointed to the cream that had spilled all over the floor. “The sound of my heart bleeding.” 

“Do you know how much this cream costs? Do you know how long it took the researchers to put the ingredients of this facial cream together? Do you know how hard life is for the workers who manufacture this cream?” 

“No, you don’t know anything. You only care about yourself.”

Li Lingcheng looked at Qin Nuan’s exaggerated expression and frowned slightly. 

He hadn’t seen Qin Nuan for just one night. Why did she seem like a completely different person now? Did she know about Bai Weiwei’s return and try to find a new way to seduce him? 

Did she purposely talk about divorce without truly meaning it so that his grandfather would blame him and he would come back and apologize to her? 

With that thought in mind, Li Lingcheng flung Qin Nuan’s hand away and said in an icy voice, “Qin Nuan, don’t try anything funny. I will never fall in love with you.” 

Qin Nuan immediately clasped her palms together like she was praying and murmured to herself, “Thank god. It’s best if you never fall in love with me.” 

Li Lingcheng raised an eyebrow. “What did you say?” 

Qin Nuan lifted her palm-sized face and smiled beautifully. “I would like to sincerely thank you on behalf of my heart, liver, spleen, stomach, and kidneys.”

Li Lingcheng frowned. He had no idea what on earth Qin Nuan talked about and had no interest in finding out. But for some reason, when he saw Qin Nuan’s smiling almond-shaped eyes, he suddenly couldn’t tear his eyes away from her. 

This red dress of hers must be too much of an eyesore. 

Li Lingcheng looked down and hid the emotions in his eyes. He ordered her in a deep voice, “Change out of this red dress and go back to wearing what you used to wear.” 

He wanted her to look like Bai Weiwei again? 

Qin Nuan’s face fell. She was the Young Mistress of the well-to-do Qin family. Why should she try to imitate the daughter of a nanny? 

A woman ought to carve her pride and confidence into her bones and not throw all of it away for the sake of love. 

“I’m not going to do that!” 

Li Lingcheng froze. This was the first time Qin Nuan had dared to go against what he told her to do. 

A rage rose from the bottom of Li Lingcheng’s heart and overtook his brain. He pulled Qin Nuan towards him, then lifted her off the floor and suspended her midair like a small chicken. He took two steps forward and flung her fiercely onto the bed. 

Qin Nuan saw stars from being manhandled like that. Fear rose in her heart, and she tried to get up, but as a woman, she lost to him in terms of strength. Li Lingcheng pressed her against the bed, and she couldn’t move at all. 

This Li Lingcheng was really a crazy fellow with mood swings! 

“Bring her clothes over and change them for her.” 

With the command from Li Lingcheng, the maids quickly fished out a white dress from the pile they were supposed to throw out. They ran over to the bed and were prepared to help Qin Nuan change her clothes.

Li Lingcheng only let her go when he saw that Qin Nuan didn’t look like she was lying. 

Once he let go of her, Qin Nuan grabbed her clothes and ran into the walk-in wardrobe. 

As she ran, she couldn’t help but curse under her breath, “Li Lingcheng, you moron of a man! You wait!” 

Immediately after she said that she heard Li Lingcheng’s frosty voice from behind her. “What did you say?” 

Qin Nuan stopped running, spun around, leaned against the door, and gave him an ingratiating smile. “I said, you’re a really manly man! I’ve never seen a man as manly as you! Wait for me to get changed, and I’ll assess you again after that!” 

Li Lingcheng was speechless.

After Qin Nuan changed and walked out again, she saw that Li Lingcheng hadn’t left yet, so she decided to talk to him properly. 

She managed to get the maids out of the room, and only the two of them were left in the bedroom. 

The air in the room was silent.
