Looking up, she asked, “You’re confident you’ll be a good father, right?”

Yan Cheng instantly put away the thoughts in his mind and straightened his waist. Even his voice was raised, speaking firmly, “Yeah, of course!”

His palm stopped over her flat stomach, hoping to be able to feel the vitality of this “life” inside of her. He couldn’t feel anything, but he still pretended as if he did. “In the future, this baby will be living the high life with me.”

Yan Cheng, “With me watching over him, just think about how imposing he’s going to be.”

The contents of his words right now and the way he was saying it was like hinting that the unformed baby in her belly was going to be a boy.

He pulled some distance between them and leaned down slightly to gaze at Chen Jinyao. After thinking for a moment and organizing his words, he said very seriously, “That kind of thinking is wrong, it’s too conservative. Even though the man has always been the breadwinner and the wife takes care of the family, it’s not right. It’s a rotten practice. Look at you, you have a stable job and you’re earning money. I also take on half the household chores. So, it’s only logical that I will help raise the child in the future.”

“We’ll help each other out to reduce the burden.” To be honest, his thinking was on an ideological high ground. “I’ll give you one second to retract your last sentence.”

“…” She was glad he had some self-awareness.

“I refuse.” Chen Jinyao said righteously.

She tilted her head and smiled. “I don’t deny you have the heart to become a good father, but more than that, I want our child to be good.”

Yan Cheng couldn’t believe it. “You’re worried I’ll spoil the child?”

“Yes.” Chen Jinyao nodded without thinking.
