Ch.122 Foolish Move (2)

After so many years, everyone had a new life when they met again.

Whoever was doing what, whoever was still single, whoever had a kid…everyone discussed such questions with great enthusiasm.

“Hey, Jinyao, why wasn’t there any news about your marriage at all?” Suddenly, someone steered the topic towards her.

New shoes tend to nip and even though the back of Chen Jinyao’s ankle was already red and sore, she still had to suffer from Yan Cheng’s constant yammering. She had no choice but to slow down her pace and gradually distanced themselves from the group. There really wasn’t much to tell Yan Cheng about her alma mater, now did he have any feelings for this school. So, dragging him, she loosened up as needed and crossed their arms, leaning close against him on purpose, acting cute and complaining about her ankle.

This was a rare opportunity so when Yan Cheng’s expression was beginning to crack from this scene, her eyes narrowed in secret joy.

Yan Cheng, “If you don’t mind the crowd, I can carry you on my back.”

As soon as he said that, she heard the people at the front talking about her, tossing her into the whirlwind. Chen Jinyao’s eyes narrowed. When she raised her head and looked up, she discovered that everyone had already stopped and were looking at both Yan Cheng and her.

Their inquisitive gazes almost seemed enough to peel off her skin.

Everything suddenly turned dry. Chen Jinyao slowly withdrew her gaze and exhaled calmly. “Well, we haven’t had our procession yet.”

“What? Seriously?!” Xu Ting gasped in the crowd.

The suddenness of that comment was extraordinarily piercing.

Yan Cheng frowned and snapped back. “We haven’t seen the world yet so we’re doing a round-the-world travel marriage. We can’t be expected to invite everyone to travel with us, can we?”

Xu Ting, “…”

Chen Jinyao swept a glance at Yan Cheng and pursed her lips, but did not speak.

This was the second time he bragged ad-lib.

They say you get better with practice, and it seems like that’s true.

Xu Ting’s expression turned ugly and she muttered, “Everyone has their own life I guess.”

A wind blew past, blowing away the envy in the air.

Yan Cheng raised his chin and scoffed with utmost disdain.

Chen Jinyao, “…”

But the class president reacted quickly and burst out in laughter, easing up the atmosphere.

After that, he jabbed the culprit Gu Ci with his elbow.

Gu Ci had a bland expression. He was completely out of the picture so this really had nothing to do with him. Only, he would constantly be looking at Chen Jinyao, whether intentionally or not. Recalling that he found out she had someone she liked back in school, he moved his eyes to Yan Cheng by her side, brows rising meaningfully.

The eye was dazzlingly bright. Even her face began to burn from the heat.

Xu Ting was completely embarrassed by Yan Cheng.

Some of the ones who were closer with her would try to put in a good word for her and to ease things up, making her feel better. She thought to herself that Yan Cheng was the one who was being rude. She looked towards Gu Ci, hoping that he could speak out for her just like he would in the past.

But Gu Ci did not do that. From beginning to end, Gu Ci never looked at her.

Yan Cheng was a smart man. With one look, he understood everything.

After this little episode, when everyone continued walking onwards, he sighed. “Ah, jealousy.”

Chen Jinyao, “?????”

“She’s clearly targeting you on purpose. She likes the class assistant.” He leaned over, moving closer to her. “Look, combine this with what we talked about yesterday. Everyone ends up different. Some give up, but some never do.”

“But that move was really quite foolish of her.”

Chen Jinyao raised a brow and couldn’t help but slap his back. “Enough gossip.”

To that, Yan Cheng only shrugged.

After that, everyone split up into groups of twos and threes and split up.

There was a winding commercial street inside the campus that reaches from the east end to the west end of the river. At night, this street gets particularly lively.

The most popular place back then is still the most popular place today.

Chen Jinyao had bumped into this place accidentally with Yan Cheng. The leaves were rustling around them but from start to end, her attention was focused on the nail salon.

It was as if there was something special about that place that was reeling her in. Walking in the shade, Chen Jinyao raised her hand and pointed towards the nail salon. “Hubby, look!”

Yan Cheng looked over to where she was pointed and understood. He nodded and even breathed a sigh of relief. “Let’s go.”

“Yeah!” She nodded repeatedly.

But she was secretly cheering inside, having tacit understanding really feels great!
