The large building was crowded with people returning from dungeons, people looking for requests, and people getting materials they had stripped from monsters appraised.

There was also a bar in the back, which was busy sucking up the adventurers’ earnings.

One of them had finally noticed Luu and cried out in shock.

Instantly, the entire room’s attention turned their way. Charlotte shrank behind Allen’s back, flustered by the sudden stares, while Luu let out a low growl.

Allen patted Luu on the head and gave a small shrug.

“She’s Charlotte’s friend. We’re here today to get permission for her to accompany us into town.”

Beast tamers couldn’t just bring any magic beast into populated areas.

If a monster that hasn’t been properly trained entered a town, it could lead to the worst possible outcome.

That’s why they need to bring their magic beast to the adventurer’s guild, where they would be inspected to prove they weren’t dangerous and would obey orders. Only then could they receive permission to walk around town together.

“W-When did you tame something that dangerous…?”

Charlotte said with a bashful smile, clearly a little calmer now.

Allen pointed toward the window counter at the back of the guild.

“See that? That’s the counter. I’ve already arranged everything, so go ahead.”

“Y-Yes. I’ll do my best. Let’s go, Luu.”

“Gao-gaooo!”

With that, the two headed confidently toward the counter, drawing stares from all around. The assessment would take about an hour, but Allen had no doubt they’d pass without issue.

Allen saw them off and tried to go outside, but… Magus and the others stopped him.

“Wait up. That means you’ve got free time, right, Demon Lord-san?”

“Come drink with us for once!”

“In the middle of the day…?”

Allen couldn’t help but smile bitterly.

He had actually planned to browse a bookstore while waiting for Charlotte, but on second thought…
