Chapter 7: VIP

“Nothing’s wrong, I just had a nightmare. Mom, what delicious dishes did you cook today?” Worried that her mother would sense something wrong with her, Gu Qingxin wormed her way into Lin Yin’s embrace and started to act adorable.

“I made your favorite drunken crabs,” Lin Yin replied as she caressed her daughter’s long, silky hair gently. Her eyes were filled with guilt. If not for her, her daughter would not have to leave the Gu family and suffer with her. “Why is your voice so hoarse? Do you have a sore throat?”

“No, I’ll be fine after drinking some water,” Gu Qingxin said.

“In that case, you should come on out,” Lin Yin said as she stood up and left the bedroom.

Gu Qingxin got out of bed, and her abdomen still hurt. “Is that man perverted? Why did he give me a tattoo there?!” she thought to herself.

There was no way for her to wash it off even if she wanted to.

Gu Qingxin’s heart throbbed with pain.

After eating dinner with Lin Yin, Gu Qingxin returned to her room, grabbed her bag, and prepared to head out. “Mom, I’m going to work. You should rest early.”

It was summer vacation. Gu Qingxin and Peng Pan were working part-time together to promote alcoholic drinks at an entertainment place. She dared not tell her mother the truth as she did not want her to worry and only informed her that she worked night shifts with her friend.

“Be careful on your way there, don’t come home late,” Lin Yin nagged at her out of concern.

It was not that the mother-daughter pair lacked money. They had enough for their daily needs, and since the Gu family would send them living expenses regularly, Lin Yin had opened a small flower shop which provided her with some extra income.

Lin Yin was in poor health and Gu Qingxin wanted her to go to the hospital for a full-body check-up, but her mother refused no matter what. Gu Qingxin thus decided to take advantage of summer vacation to work part-time in hope that she can earn some money and bring her mother to the hospital for a check-up.

Ever since they left the Gu family and lost their luxurious lifestyle of expensive clothes and food, Gu Qingxin learned that life goes on no matter what happens.

She needed to find Peng Pan and get to the bottom of what happened last night.

After she arrived at Castle Entertainment City, Gu Qingxin changed into her work attire. The promoter’s work attire was more formal. It consisted of a white blouse and a black skirt which accentuated her amazing figure. However, the buttons on her blouse were rather low, and her skirt was very short. It was easy for her to get indecently exposed when bending over.

Gu Qingxin left the changing room and called out to her colleague, “Xiao Mei, is Peng Pan here yet?”

“Aren’t the two of you inseparable best friends? Why are you asking me that?” Xiao Mei’s tone was rather nasty.

Inseparable best friends?

That sounded ironic right now.

The job of promoting alcohol was based on commission, so even though they were colleagues, their relationship was competitive in nature. Gu Qingxin paid no attention to her colleague’s bad attitude.

Since Peng Pan had not arrived, Gu Qingxin grabbed some alcohol and got ready to start her promotion.

“Qingxin, don’t accuse me of not giving you good opportunities. You can cover the VIP room, the people there today are all important people. If you do a good job at promoting, you’ll make more commission tonight than you do in a month,” the manager said as he pulled Gu Qingxin to the side.

“Thank you, sir,” Gu Qingxin replied. She retracted her arms awkwardly and said, “In that case, I’ll make my way there now.”

“Go on,” the manager said as he looked her up and down. He thought that she was really beautiful and that there was no other lady in Castle Entertainment more outstanding than she was.

Gu Qingxin arrived at the VIP room with some alcohol. She knocked on the door lightly before she entered.

Inside the private room was a group of well-dressed men surrounded by smoke. Every man was seated next to a woman in revealing clothes. The sounds of laughter were mixed with that of kissing, and they were all brazenly playing rated games not suitable for children.
