Chapter 20: Scouring the Tower

The summoning tower was not large, but it was tall. In total, there were seven floors. If a person wanted to upgrade their summoning scripture, they would need to pass up until the fifth floor. No one knew what was contained on the last two floors.

Summoners who were able to pass the fifth floor relied on their divine pets. They were unable to go beyond that. In fact, no one had ever succeeded.

Furthermore, nobody knew who built the summoning tower. It took up a small area, but the space inside was infinite. The summoning tower could even summon creatures from different realms without any restrictions. 

Therefore, many summoners chose to cultivate here. It was a good place to gain experience. 

Naturally, cities and academies would be constructed near these summoning towers.

This place was often filled with people and its always noisy. There were too many people and too few summoning towers. Such an occurrence was inevitable.

“Roar!”

A dragon’s roar attracted everyone’s attention. 

They looked up and their jaws dropped. A huge dragon was flying above.

“A fairy dragon?”

“I’ve heard of a person who owned a fairy dragon pet. Is she here?”

“Why is she here?”

“That’s impossible. She had already passed through the basic and advanced summoning towers. There’s no reason for her to be here.”

The fairy dragon landed. 

Ye Mei Er and Luo Chen got off the dragon’s back.

The fairy dragon looked at Luo Chen shyly before turning into a puff of smoke and returned to Ye Mei Er’s summoning scripture.

“She’s very shy.”

“Yup. She has never carried a male on her back before.”

They slowly walked to one side of the summoning tower.

“This person wants to challenge the summoning tower,” said Ye Mei Er.

The guards recognized her and granted them entrance.

“So, the boy with an emperor-level aptitude is her younger brother?”

“Probably.”

People became excited when they heard that someone was going to challenge the summoning tower. It was a difficult feat to accomplish. Not many people had the courage to do it

An old man wearing a robe walked over and said, “Those who are above level 20 are not allowed to challenge this summoning tower. The creatures on the first floor will be one level higher than the challenger. The creatures on the second level will be two levels higher than the challenger and so on. If this is acceptable to you, please proceed.”

The old man handed a piece of contact paper to Luo Chen.

Luo Chen frowned. 

‘If I reach the seventh floor, that means the creatures will be seven levels higher than me, right? However, I can’t use any creatures from the realm. Otherwise, the bone dragon would be able to easily handle this.’

Medium-grade pets were about one level stronger than low-grade pets, high-grade pets were about one level stronger than medium-grade pets, and so on.

So, a divine pet would be on par with the creatures on the fifth floor.

Nothing was guaranteed in the final outcome. The chances of Luo Chen succeeding were very slim.

Luo Chen could not help but worry. He wanted to ascend until the seventh floor so he could brag.

Suddenly, he realized something. 

“Can I use spells in the tower?”

The old man nodded

Luo Chen was very happy. He signed his name contract. 

The contract was a requirement because people may be injured or perish in the summoning tower. They had to be responsible for their own mistakes.

There was a fee to enter the summoning tower. The creatures inside the summoning tower consumed a lot of spirit stones, so the challenger had to pay to keep the place functioning.

“Luo Chen, are you planning to climb all the way up to the seventh floor?” asked Ye Mei Er with a smile.

“Yes, I can do it.”

Luo Chen stepped into the summoning tower without looking back.

“How many floors do you think he’ll be able to pass?”

“At least five floors. After all, he has a divine-grade mermaid pet.”

“But that pet does not fight well on land. I think he’ll only be able to clear the fourth floor.”
