Chapter 23: Quick Defense, Sacred Light Magic, Light Barrier

“You!”

“Come over to treat this youth.”

“Three of you, protect the healer and this young man.”

“The four of you!”

“Go and evacuate the crowd outside.”

“Protect the lives of the people on the streets.”

“You five will guard the door. Don’t let anything escape.”

After the Commander gave his subordinates their respective tasks, he said to another group of the guards.

“The rest of you, follow me.”

The commander then stood up and led several of his men towards the second floor.

However, before the Knight Commander and his guards could walk forward a meter…

Several two-meter-tall shadows appeared amidst the dust.

Seeing this, the Paladins hurriedly placed their shields in front of them.

At the same time, they picked up their swords and prepared themselves for battle.

“What sort of monsters are you?!!”

“How dare you cause trouble in Saint Calloran City!!”

The commander of the Guards stood alone not far from the group of black shadows.

It was as if he was guarding a city by himself.

There was no fear.

On cue, the werewolves stopped their destruction, and the dust began to gradually settle.

Slowly, the shadow’s real appearances appeared before the knightage.

It also appeared in front of the onlookers outside the door.

“They’re wolves!”

“It’s a werewolf!”

“Look, what’s in those wolves’ mouths and hands?”

“Seems like blood.”

“Look behind that gate. There seems to be a youth covered in wounds and bleeding.”

“Could it be?”

“The blood in the werewolf’s mouth and hands belongs to that young man?”

“I told you long ago that human nations shouldn’t let creatures of other races in. Sooner or later something will happen.”

“You see? The werewolves’ bestiality has erupted.”

Outside the door, a few of the sharp-eyed people spoke first.

Then, there was a flurry of discussion.

Moments later, the commander spoke out.

“Oh…”

“So it’s the Wolfmen.”

“What’s going on?”

“Do you feel aggrieved in this bar?”

“Are you destroying things to vent your emotions?”

The Knight Commander teased.

The werewolf leader heard the teasing tone, and replied back in its raspy voice.

“Sir Knight!”

“I don’t want to do anything for you anymore.”

“I’ve had enough of listening to the instructions of you scum!”

“I want to return to my country!”

With that, the werewolf leader roared at the Commander.

That long roar shook even the hair on the Commander.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“What do you mean you work for us?”

“What do you mean we’re scum?”

“Our king is kind enough to take you wandering werewolves in.”

“We even arranged a job for you guys.”

“Why are you biting us back?”

“True kindness is being treated as ill intent.”

The Commander replied with a pained expression.

“Hehe. Well said!”

“If your king didn’t do that thing, why would we, the werewolves, be wandering around!”

“He even arranged work for us? What sort of work is this?!”

“Such a heartless thing!!”

“I can’t believe that you would do this to us, who are technically humans too!”

“Cut the crap!”

“Speak with your actions!”

Immediately, the werewolf leader and his ten subordinates assumed a battle stance, preparing to fight the knights.

Seeing that the werewolf was unable to converse with him, the Commander decided to go straight to battle with him and didn’t say anything else.

Swish!

The werewolf leader and the ten wolves behind him disappeared.

“Eh?”

Seeing this, the Knight Commander frowned.

He quickly turned around and signaled his subordinates to quickly activate defensive magic.

However, he was still a step too late.

Swoosh!

Five cold lights flashed in the air.

Then…

One of the guards fell to the ground.

“Pssshhh!”

“Pssshhh!”

Large amounts of blood gushed out from the fallen Paladin’s neck.

By the time the rest of the knights and guards reacted…

Another five points of cold light flashed in the air.

Yet another guard fell to the ground.

A large amount of blood also spurted out from his neck.

Seeing this scene, the rest of the guards, including the ones who were dealing with the other miscellaneous tasks were stunned silly.

Then…

“Ahhh!”

Waves of panic rang out in the bar.

“I don’t want to die yet!!”

“This monster!!”

“It’s impossible for us to win!!”

The guards were so frightened that their legs went weak and they fell to the ground.

Their eyes were filled with a fear of death.

At the same time, the crowd outside began to panic and flee in all directions.

“Murder!”

“A paladin has been killed!”

“Run!”

Instantly, a series of panicked screams sounded from the crowd.

There was a serious stampede in the panic-stricken crowd.

“Everyone, don’t panic!”

“We the Knights will protect everyone!”

“You guys, stop sitting on the ground.”

“Get up!”

“Are you still considered a Knight!!”

The Commander rebuked the soldiers who were slumped on the ground.

Then, the Commander put on a solemn expression.

He pressed his palms together and shouted,

“Sacred Light Magic: Light Barrier!!”

Immediately, a dazzling white light spread out in a semicircle from the Commander.

This spread out until all the guards were surrounded.

Of course, the group of people fleeing outside the door were not enveloped by the white light.

Because this spell was only an elementary level five spell.

This level was not enough to cover everyone present.

Before long, the white light completely surrounded all the guards.

Clang!!!

A sound suddenly came from the white light above the head of one of the guards who was slumped on the ground.

“Ahhh!”

“It’s here!!”

“That wolf is coming to kill me!!”

“It’s coming to kill me!!”

The panicked guard held his head tightly with both hands.

His entire body was prone on the ground, and he curled up tightly like a prawn.

His eyes were full of fear at his impending doom.

“Don’t panic!”

“That wolf won’t be able to attack us anytime soon!”

“Quickly sit down and adjust yourselves.”

“Then fight!!”

“I’m not sure how long my barrier can last as well!”

The Commander shouted back as he struggled to support the light barrier..
