Chapter 2: Forced to Marry You

The next day when Freya woke up, she was exhausted and her mind was a blur.

She forcibly sat up straight. A shadow promptly loomed over her from above.

The woman looked up anxiously. After making brief eye contact, she averted her eyes and said with her head lowered, “Mr… Mr. Carter.”

The man sneered before moving away from her. He looked proud and mocking, and his tone of voice sounded even colder. “Listen up.”

Freya did not understand what he wanted. She simply pursed her lips without saying a word until the man’s sexy voice could be heard.

“I was forced to marry you. I am sure you married me for disgraceful reasons as well. In this case, let’s both get what we want out of the marriage. In the meantime, I strongly suggest that you do not waste any time on me.”

Freya bit her lip. The man had called her by some other woman’s name last night when he was kissing her. She did not fight his suggestion and said, “I understand.”

She watched as he left the room before she could gradually relax. “In that case, you had better not offend me either!”

The moment she finished her sentence, she lay back in bed.

In reality, she was physically and mentally exhausted.

After lying in bed for about five minutes, someone knocked on the door.

She thought it was Gideon, so she swiftly sat up in bed!

Instead, it was the sound of a maid. “Mrs. Carter, breakfast is ready. Please come downstairs.”

Freya felt relieved. “Okay.”

Freya got up and took some morning-after pills she had prepared in advance and made a call.

A lively female voice came from over the phone. “How was your wedding night?”

“Sigh. I don’t know what to say. Did you go to court for me yesterday? What was the outcome?”

Ashley Taylor sighed. “Uh huh. The judge has passed the sentence for Uncle Noah. It was manslaughter, so he was sentenced to one year of imprisonment. In just a year, we can reunite, so don’t worry. The only problem is your grandmother who is alone in the old folks’ home.”

Freya felt a twinge in her heart. “Okay. Got it. I will find time to visit Grandma in a couple of days.”

After hanging up the phone, she washed up and went downstairs.

There was no sign of Gideon in the dining room, so he had probably gone to work.

“Mrs. Carter, Mr .Carter has already gone to the office. My name is Nora Miller. From now on, I will be at your service.”

Freya nodded gently.

Freya walked through the dining hall to the table. Just as she was about to take a seat, she suddenly felt giddy. She passed out and fell onto the ground.

Nora hurriedly put down her things and walked over to help support Freya. The moment she touched Freya, she could sense her unusually high temperature. She said in shock, “Mrs. Carter, why are you having such a high fever?”

Nora helped Freya to the couch and sat her down before calling Gideon.

The moment the call went through, a man’s cold voice could be heard. “What?”

“Sir, Madam is having a high fever.”

The man hung up the phone once he had heard what Nora said.

Nora did not expect Gideon to react this way.

She sighed. She gave Freya some cold medicine before calling the Carter residence.

Gideon’s phone rang the moment he sat down at his desk. It was from his father, so he frowned. “I have already married the woman you told me to. What more do you want?”

“You punk. Freya is sick. She is running a high fever, okay?”

“You are a powerful man in town. Would you ever need my help with helping someone with a slight cold?”

The old man said furiously, “Since you have married her, you have to treat her well. Otherwise, the woman lying in the hospital might get driven out at any moment.”
