Chapter 1154: Chapter 1154: Not Even Leftovers Remain

Jasmine Yale and Butler Santana hit it off well. After chatting for a while, she went back to her bedroom, while Butler Santana headed to the kitchen.

Just as she reached the doorway, Jasmine saw Sylvan Cheney standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in the master bedroom.

The windows were wide, his tall figure casting a long and solitary shadow on the floor.

He hadn’t taken a shower yet, looking as if he had stepped out to smoke a few cigarettes–his body was full of the smell of smoke.

“I’m going to sleep in the guest room.”

Jasmine told him her plans and went to the closet to pick out a few clothes.

“Is my bed not to your liking?” Sylvan turned around, his austere gaze falling upon her.

“If I sleep on your bed, where will you sleep?”

“I’ll sleep in the guest room.”

The guest room obviously couldn’t compare to the master bedroom; Sylvan’s room was the best in the entire Cheney Residence.

“That’s fine, I guess.” Jasmine wasn’t inclined to argue with him about it; she knew his room was comfortable and warmer than the guest room, “Well… I’m planning to go to sleep.”

“Mm-hmm, good night.”

Sylvan bade her farewell with gentlemanly grace. The more polite people became with each other, the more distant they seemed to grow.

“Um, Butler Santana mentioned you hurt yourself and it’s inconvenient for you to take a shower. Be careful not to get the wound wet. Even though it’s winter, a wound that gets wet doesn’t heal easily.” Jasmine said, “Also, Butler Santana has gone to the kitchen to make you some supper. You should eat something, it might keep you from constantly wanting to smoke.”

“Do you still care about me?”

“I care about all my friends.”

“Then I guess I’m honored to be counted among your friends,” Sylvan scoffed with a cold laugh.

He lifted his eyes to look at her, his gaze was indifferent and devoid of warmth, even edged with mockery.

“I’m not leaving tomorrow, don’t let anyone pressure me to go,” Jasmine pouted, displeasure written all over her face.

“If you’re not leaving, just stay faithfully at Cheney Residence. I gave you two options.”

Jasmine consented.

Sylvan walked out of the bedroom and headed towards the guest room.

Jasmine sat on the edge of the bed, sipping hot water, silently taking in everything inside the master bedroom.

This place was not unfamiliar to her, especially his bed.

She remembered that night, when she, drunk, had originally been undressing him, but somehow ended up pinned under him on the bed.

That night, he was like a starving wolf, devouring her until there was nothing left.

It was her first experience of that nature; it started with pain, but under the influence of alcohol, she faintly began to reciprocate.

The next day he was gone, and she sat dazed on this bed, at a loss.

It had already been four years; it all seemed like a hazy dream.

His bed looked the same as ever, and four years later, he too had returned.

But they… could no longer return to how they once were.

Everything had changed.

He was no longer the man she had looked up to in her heart; she even felt some fear towards him.

She was no longer his fully compliant Little Jasmine.

He had a charming son, a beautiful girlfriend, and a powerful conglomerate. Everything was slowly getting better, and it was gradually taking on the feel of a home.

But she was still left with nothing.

He was still him, superior, possessing everything.

Initially, they were the same, alone and unsupported.

Later on, she remained the same, while he found his own happiness.

They were never really the same.

Jasmine took a sip of the hot water–it was warming, and her stomach felt more comfortable.

She went to the bathroom to tidy up her hair, blow-dried it, and applied some rose oil.

No matter what, things would definitely get better in the future.

She too would have a happy home; there was no need for her to envy him.
