Chapter 17: Fu Erxing’s Combo Attacks

It was all thanks to her that the family had obtained so many goodies.

What did it have to do with Fubao?

Why were they constantly attributing all the good things that had happened to Fu Xing’er?

Even calling her lucky!

How ridiculous!

More like a jinx.

The entire family was initially full of joy. Liu Guimei’s words were like a basin of cold water that extinguished everyone’s enthusiasm.

Old Mrs Fu shot her a piercing look.

Nobody will forget you have a mouth if you don’t use it all the time.

Mdm Fu also shot her a look of warning.

If you don’t know what to say and not say, shut up.

With the double pressure from the two queens of the household, Liu Guimei instantly became as quiet as a chicken. She lowered her head and did not dare to speak.

She did not think that what she had said was wrong.

Unlike Liu Guimei who was insensible, Jiang Xinghua was filled with anticipation and said, “Maybe what Grandma said was true.”

She too felt that Fu Xing’er was the lucky star of the family. Ever since she was born, there had been good things happening to the family one after another.

First, they had the strange encounter with the falling pigeons which fetched them some good money. Second, they managed to save someone who turned out to be a wealthy minister who gifted the family so many goodies as a form of appreciation… all of these happened once Fu Xing’er was born. They had never encountered such good luck before.

Just as Old Mrs Fu had said, Fu Xing’er was the luck of the family. In the future, they would have to treat her twice as well so that the family could prosper.

Seeing that Fu Xing’er’s clothes were patched and tattered, Jiang Xinghua suggested, “Mother, there were a few pieces of fabric amongst the goodies that Minister Wang had sent over just now. The colors are beautiful and the quality of the fabric is top-notch. It is breathable and comfortable. Why don’t I make some new clothes for Fubao tonight?”

Fubao was so good-looking and was the only girl in the family. She must be dressed up beautifully.

“Yes, yes, yes. Jiang Xinhua is right. Our Fubao has to dress well. We can’t let her suffer.” Old Mrs Fu was the first to agree.

Old Mrs Fu expressed her agreement decisively too, “Yes, you shall make arrangements for this matter, Xinghua. Do make a few more sets of clothes for Fubao.”

“Sure! When I’m done with my chores, I’ll start working on them. I’ll try to finish them by tomorrow.”

Since she couldn’t give birth to a daughter herself whom she could dress up like a princess, she would treat her Fu Xing’er as her own daughter.

Jiang Xinghua was even more thoughtful than Mdm Fu in this matter, though she wasn’t the actual mother of Fu Xing’er.

Liu Guimei stomped her feet in anger.

Jiang Xinghua was such a boot-licker.

She had secretly wanted to make a few sets of clothes for herself using those good-quality fabrics.

It had been way too long since she had new clothes. All along, she could only alternate between her two sets of tattered, worn-out clothes. It was so pathetic.

Great. Her dreams were dashed.

How nosy.

She yelled words of blame at Jiang Xinghua in her heart.

If she couldn’t wear them, she would fight for a chance for her son instead.

She said to Mdm Fu, “Mother, Xiaoma is a playful child. He keeps on carelessly spoiling and tearing his clothes. Why don’t we make two sets of clothes for him too?”

Since her daughter was getting it, her grandson should deserve it too.

She shouldn’t be biased.

She had never expected that her husband would be the first to undermine her.

Fu Erxing was sitting on the bed and looking at his little sister. His handsome face wore a look of gentleness so soft that it seemed like water was about to spill from it. He wished that he could give his little sister the world.

“Why would a boy need new clothes? It’ll be a pity if he spoils them after a short while. It’s better to let Little Sister have it instead. She’ll look good in them.”

Was this really what a biological father would say?

Liu Guimei clutched her chest, furious at her husband.

She was unwilling to give up just like that and fought to the end. “But Xiaoma has to dress decently in school now that he is studying. He should leave a good impression on his teachers.”

“It’s not like you don’t know our son. He’s always fidgeting and disobedient in class. There’s no image for him to uphold in the first place anyway.”

He knew his son very well.

Liu Guimei’s anger spread from her heart to her liver and to her whole body. She was so angry that her entire body hurt.

“Also, he won’t look as good when he wears it. Don’t waste the fabric on him,” Fu Erxing added with a look of disdain.

His little sister was still the most good-looking. She should be the one to dress up so she could look her best.

Liu Guimei was so angry that she couldn’t say another word.
