Chapter 773: Chapter 619: Throng of Corpses

Red Sparrow’s face was pallid, but her eyes shone with an unusual brightness. This woman possessed an obstinacy that seemed even more extreme than that demonstrated by Miyanori Chiyoko.

Roger noted that her abdomen was flat, which likely meant the child had already been taken out.

That was probably for the best.

Seemingly noticing Roger’s gaze, Red Sparrow subtly shifted her body, her hands crossed to cover her stomach.

Her eyes were wide open, her pupils constricted tight, making her distinctly black-and-white eyes seem somewhat unsettling in the dark.

Stared at with Red Sparrow’s fierce gaze, Roger remained calm, acknowledging that his arrival had, in a way, spurred all this.

But the relationship between her and Yuan Guanghai was not ordinary mutual affection; it was forbidden, one that neither could nor should bear fruit.

“What are you doing here?”

A voice came from not far away, “Go back!”

It was Miyanori Chiyoko.

Red Sparrow lowered her head, turned, and quickly left Roger’s courtyard.

“Peak Master Miyanori.”

Roger spoke formally.

“I thought I might see a lively scene here tonight.”

Roger remained silent; he truly wasn’t good at dealing with women like Miyanori Chiyoko, and considering her identity, it was even more headache-inducing.

“I admit I underestimated you during the day, but that was not the full extent of my power.”

Miyanori Chiyoko lifted her head, her emotions quickly subsiding as she thought of something.

“I am willing to apologize for my rashness, I… don’t want these matters to affect you, to influence your judgments about Funiu…”

Miyanori Chiyoko was conflicted, her words jumbled; it took a while before Roger realized the woman in front of him was apologizing.

It was indeed strange, but her attitude seemed to have shifted rather drastically.

Hmm? Wait a second.

How did she seem to know everything? Last time was the same. Does Sword Master Funiu tell her everything?

A sliver of suspicion flashed through his eyes as his mind wandered. Roger suddenly entertained a sinister suspicion.

He quickly dismissed the thought, responded perfunctorily, and decided to retire for the night.

“I’ve already expressed my attitude, why haven’t you agreed?” Miyanori Chiyoko’s voice came from behind.

Her tone suppressed anger, and Roger even worried she might attack from behind at any moment.

“Really a matchless pair of master and disciple.”

With a helpless shake of his head, Roger casually closed the door. It was a while before the indignant Miyanori Chiyoko left his courtyard.

With Roger’s current strength, the so-called rest was just a pretense. In such an environment, he certainly couldn’t actually fall asleep.

But unexpectedly, not long after closing his eyes in contemplation, a voice reached him. Roger knew another figure had appeared outside his courtyard.

This time he didn’t even rise to open the door.

“I’m intruding.”

Roger recognized the voice.

Ishida Minami.

Yuan Guanghai’s father.

“Is it Peak Master Ishida? What brings you here?”

Silence fell outside the courtyard.

Roger waited patiently but soon, a whooshing sound came as Ishida Minami left without a word.

“What’s going on?”

“Why is everyone acting so peculiar?”

Roger guessed he must’ve come to ask about news concerning Yuan Guanghai, but for some unknown reason, he eventually changed his mind.

No one else came to disturb Roger after that.

He sat quietly until sunrise, the night passing without incident.

The next day, the same young man who appeared last night took care of arranging Roger’s affairs. Everything was normal; no visitors came.

But when evening arrived, this time it was Sword Master Funiu who came to the courtyard.

Roger knew it was time to make a decision.

Either leave immediately or go see the place Sword Master Funiu had mentioned.

“Can you take me to that place you spoke of?” Roger asked.

Sword Master Funiu nodded.

In fact, Roger was quite curious himself, as it involved worlds with two different power backgrounds.

From various indications, the Transcendent World hidden in the west was much vaster than that of Sunrise.

After all, Sunrise was just an Island Nation, and though larger than his former world, it still couldn’t be considered the center.

Sword Master Funiu took Roger to the peak of Qinglu Mountain, a place so high that even the ethereal clouds could be seen.

The buildings and scenery beneath their feet were concealed by the clouds within reach, lending the scene an extra layer of charm in the mist.

From his current position, Roger looked down towards the direction of the Sword Pavilion’s main entrance, where the massive bull sculpture was distinctly visible.

“The place you mentioned is up there?” Roger inquired.

Sword Master Funiu smiled without a word. He spread his left hand, and a tip of his finger sparkled with a green light, which converged and quickly struck the green ox statue in front of the Sword Pavilion’s door.

Then Roger saw the verdant ox’s massive body stir to life.

The transformation seemed unnoticed by others in the Sword Pavilion as Sword Master Funiu led Roger to leap down from the peak. They crossed a great distance in an instant, and the next moment they appeared on the ox’s back.

The ox sprinted, the scenery changing rapidly–it was clearly a spell–followed by an even more rapid transformation.

Mountains, clouds, and the green ox vanished.

All around was chaos; ahead was a straight stone bridge, and at the end of the road across the bridge was a colossal bear head.

Carved entirely from stone, its mane merged with the surrounding rock walls, giving it a robust and rugged appearance.
