“Squad Fifty-Two, your mission has arrived…”

In the Crystal Stone Communicator, the command post’s cold voice continuously sounded. In the dormitories of the Floating City, several modified goblins of varying builds ceased their actions.

“Is there finally a mission?” a burly goblin with tusks muttered.

They are the elite squad, also known as the modification squad. As the first batch of goblins subjected to advanced modification within the goblin army, they are undoubtedly crack troops. But in Richard’s perspective, their battlefield is not on the frontline.

As a wizard who has fought multiple Plane Wars, Richard is keenly aware that on front-line battlefields, with high enemy density and firepower density, the individual strong advantages are far from being fully utilized.

The saying goes, two fists can’t fight four hands, let alone against attacks that might come from all directions on a battlefield.

Even wizards need slave armies to share the firepower on the front battlefield.

“It’s finally here,” a tall and slender figure stretched lazily, “any later, I would’ve thought the command had forgotten about us.”

The modification squad is fully equipped: a perfect goblin, a Source Energy Master, a Mechanic, and a Witch Doctor. And this tall, slender figure is naturally the Source Energy Master.

“This mission is somewhat dangerous.”

No sooner had the Source Energy Master spoken, than the short-statured Mechanic gravely opened his mouth.

The command assigned them the task of infiltrating enemy territory, assassinating the Family Heads and the Commander sent by the Family Alliance. But according to the command’s intelligence, these Family Heads are mostly Second Level creatures, and some are even Third Level, with some equaling wizardry’s Dao Techniques.

“No need to worry, the Sage is with us.”

Holding a wooden staff and wearing a black robe, the Witch Doctor walked to the group, mumbling a bit.

As a political-religious regime, Priests are not rare. And after modifying the Witch Doctors, a significant number become Priests.

Two hallmarks of the Miracle Sect Priests are the healing power within the wooden staff and the hooded black robe worn.

The other squad members saw the Witch Doctor and bowed their heads: “Praise the Sage, may the sun be with us.”

Priests are highly respected among goblins, and even in the strictly hierarchical army, they have additional voice.

Shortly, the Crystal Stone Communicator broadcast ended.

The modification squad members stored the Crystal Stone Communicator away and exited the room. As they opened the door, the entire floor opened their doors simultaneously.

The modification squads exchanged a glance, greeted familiarly, and headed to the logistics department together.

As modified goblins, they have extra equipment.

The logistics area was bustling, and the huge warehouse doors continuously had fully loaded rail cars exit – yes, even in the Otherworld, goblins never forgot their favorite transport – rail cars.

Upon the modification squad’s arrival, the logistics personnel directed them to their exclusive armory.

“You all know the rules, one Crystal Stone Power Armor per person, don’t take more. Captain, keep an eye on your Mechanic, we’re in the initial phase, and materials are limited. Every piece should be used appropriately. Also, the Source Energy Master’s Crystal Magic Wand shouldn’t be taken excessively.”

The goblins of the logistics department mostly were veterans of the Abyss War, each an old hand. They understand the thoughts of these rookies all too well.

“As for Single-edged Alchemy Chainsaw Sword, Annihilation Gun, Dual Resistance Alchemy Shield, these, take according to your needs. As for Destruction Bomb, Annihilation Hand Grenade, Annihilation Bomb, as long as it’s not excessive, you can take more.”

Crystal Stone Power Armor technology emerged during the Abyss War, allowing Fire Lizard Warriors to replace damaged Single Soldier Armor. After the Abyss War ended, this project didn’t cease; it was continuously pushed at Richard’s behest – craftsman-style Single Soldier Armor required the Yuris Black Crystal as a Power Source, but outside of Wizard Civilization, Richard certainly couldn’t obtain this.

With the genius of the Floating City Research Institute driving it, Crystal Stone Power Armor technology took shape.

Using goblins’ Crystal Stone Technology, it replaced most components inside craftsman-style Power Armor, lowering its cost yet again. Despite being bulkier and clumsier, the enhanced Crystal Power Armor excelled in Magic Power utilization thanks to Crystal Stone Technology.

This advancement made Crystal Stone Power Armor officially standard equipment.

Different modifications correspond to different armors. The Source Energy Master’s armor is snug and slender, with a built-in spiritual power amplification function. The Perfect Goblin’s armor is as mighty as the Perfect Goblin itself, full of strength and solidity. The Mechanic’s armor isn’t battle armor; its back has a mechanical backpack from which three mechanical arms extend for assistance. The Witch Doctor’s is similar, but compared to the Mechanic, the Witch Doctor’s armor is more offensive.

Its blades can cut through a patient’s body as easily as they can slit an enemy’s throat.

Equipped with their gear, after passing the inspection gate, the squad officially began their mission.

Arriving at the frontline via War Airship, after greeting the frontline Commander, the squad officially proceeded through unfinished defense lines into Werewolf-controlled zones.

In the dense forest, the Perfect Goblin studied the map, indicating they were in an area belonging to a Family Mountain City named Doujia Low Grade Family.

After the opening battle loss, the families swiftly deployed. Large numbers of Samurai were sent to the front, commanded by the Commanders assigned by the Alliance and the local Family Heads. Therefore, many Samurai were stationed at Doujia.

Their mission was to break through the samurai’s defenses and eliminate these two targets amidst thousands of troops.

Suddenly, a slender figure emerged from the perfect goblin’s silhouette. Without needing to turn around, the perfect goblin knew this person was their team’s Source Energy Master.

The Source Energy Master’s role was assassination and reconnaissance; such tasks were very suitable for the Source Energy Master.

“The defense is quite good, but the residences of the two important figures have no protection whatsoever. I carefully observed; there are definitely no ambushes.”

“That’s quite normal,” the perfect goblin spoke, “according to the command post’s information, these werewolves are fragmented into tens of thousands of factions, and there hasn’t been any large-scale war.

Without the experience of large-scale war, they naturally believe in their own power, thinking Second Level beings don’t need protection from First Level beings.”

The Source Energy Master shook his head: “Utterly foolish.”

“That’s why they need the grace of our lord,” the Witch Doctor said.

The perfect goblin looked at the Source Energy Master, “Explain the defense layout; you and I will go in for assassination, the Witch Doctor will cover, and the Mechanic will provide remote fire support.”

Although the Witch Doctor’s status was revered, in the modified team, the perfectly balanced abilities of the perfect goblin made him the leader.

“Alright, I drew a simple map, come over and take a look…”

Through the Source Energy Master’s explanation, the team members gained a complete understanding of the werewolf’s defense layout. The Source Energy Master and the perfect goblin would assassinate, the Witch Doctor would cover the critical paths, and the Mechanic would provide remote fire support and create chaos.

After assigning tasks, the four immediately began executing their mission.

Under the bright moonlight, the Source Energy Master, the Witch Doctor, and the perfect goblin silently turned into three patches of shadow using the shadow witchcraft plugin and quietly infiltrated the heavily guarded Family Mountain City.

Within the mountain city, werewolf samurai patrol teams roamed the streets, wielding long swords and clad in iron armor. Their eyes glowed green, clearly having consumed an elixir named Night Eye, allowing their vision to be as sharp at night as during the day.

But they didn’t notice the two patches of shadow slithering beside them.

The Witch Doctor stopped at the critical path for retreat during the assassination, while the other two continued forward along the shadows, soon arriving at the Commander’s courtyard.

The Commander, from a prominent family, was drinking and playing the lute in the courtyard. But his lute wasn’t made of wood; it was the torso of a female werewolf. The strings weren’t silk but intestines processed into gut strings.

As the strings were plucked, the female werewolf’s body trembled constantly, her mouth opened and closed, but no sound came out.

Pling–

As the tune ended, the Commander tossed the “Beauty’s Lute” aside, no longer interested.

“Ah, indeed, a wasteland produces mediocre instruments.”

In the shadows, the two modified goblins looked on, filled with horror. No amount of propaganda compared to witnessing the family violence firsthand, deepening the faith within the hearts of the modified goblins.

“No wonder our lord ventures far for this world; this place is truly Hell’s Abyss.”

Holding a jar of wine, the Commander planned to retire for the night. Before he’d taken a few steps, a dangerous sensation made the hair on the back of his neck stand up, prompting him to instinctively lower his head.

Buzz!

In the instant he dodged, a Wind Blade flew over his head, slicing off the ears he didn’t have time to protect.

“Who!”

The Commander turned swiftly, drawing his sword, as a violent energy wave erupted from his body. But before he could see the attacker clearly, a tall and slender shadow emerged from behind him.

“Act.”

A short phrase, unintelligible to the Commander, came from behind him, followed by a squelch–a Crystal Blade pierced his heart.

The stabbing of his heart rendered the Commander powerless, and at this moment, he finally saw who assaulted him–a large creature clad in black armor.

“Heaven… Demon…”

The Commander muttered his last words because, in the next moment, his head was severed by the perfect goblin’s Single-edged Alchemy Chainsaw Sword.

“Proceed,” the perfect goblin gestured.

The two then headed toward the family head’s courtyard.

A few minutes later, the tranquil night suddenly erupted with an ear-piercing explosion. When the werewolf samurai arrived at the scene, they found only a charred corpse and some black metal fragments.

In the Command Tower’s office, the communicator echoed the perfect goblin’s robust voice.

“Team 52 has successfully completed the mission, zero casualties, all targets eliminated. End.”

“Headquarters received. End.”

The old goblin responsible for tallying results checked off the entry for Team 52 in his file. On his desk lay a stack of similar files, each marked with a check.

All were checked off completions.
