Chapter 1620: Section 1621: The Etiquette of the Demon
After Greya returned to her senses from her contemplation, Angel brought her into the Mind Ribbon and relayed Sanders’s conclusion.
Greya: “Asaz indeed doesn’t seem to be lying, but the matter of the demon sacrifice is true. He himself claims he will stick to his beliefs, but who can guarantee what the future holds. In any case, he remains an unstable element.”
Greya wasn’t wrong. If Angel were in Greya’s position, encountering such a person who could potentially drag down the entire Gourmet World, he wouldn’t be at ease either.
“What do you think is the best method?” Sanders suddenly spoke up at this time, asking Greya through the Mind Ribbon.
“Without a doubt, ensuring his eternal disappearance is the best method.” And the method of disappearance is none other than to kill him completely.
“But killing him won’t kill the demon. The demon can continue to choose another person to tempt, especially since this demon has already reached the Southern Domain,” Sanders said.
Greya really wanted to say to also take down the demon, but demons are always cunning, especially those hiding in the Void. It’s hard for Wizards to truly locate them and successfully snipe. If it were that simple, the Gourmet World of the Northern Territory wouldn’t have such an infamous reputation.
Unless this demon crosses the boundary and comes to reality.
But the demon clearly has no intention of doing so, otherwise Asaz would not have been caught by them.
Greya frowned: “Then what should we do?”
Sanders: “There are naturally many methods, but to find the one that settles the issue once and for all, you’ll need to decide for yourself. However, I am curious why a fire-pattern demon has chosen a Wizard Apprentice as its sacrificer?”
Sanders looked at Asaz and slowly said, “I want to talk to the fire-pattern demon you are sacrificing for.”
“Fire-pattern demon?” Asaz had heard the term from Angel before, but he hadn’t realized that it referred to Sebastian.
“It seems that he hasn’t even told you what race he belongs to,” Sanders said softly.
Asaz was silent, not knowing what to say. Just then, a black mist suddenly emerged from his body, which transformed into a demon’s Phantom Shadow.
It looked like an elegantly dressed noble, only the Phantom Shadow had demon’s horns on its head, and a faint black mist spread behind it, displaying the demon’s wings.
“Humans, why do you know that I am a fire-pattern demon?” A faint voice emanated from the demon’s Phantom Shadow.
“As a member of the demon nobility, why would you choose a Wizard Apprentice as your sacrificer?” Instead of answering, Sanders questioned with curiosity and inquisitiveness in his eyes.
“I thought humans were more concerned with etiquette than demons, there should be answers for questions, shouldn’t there? Mighty one amongst humans,” Sebastian quietly said, watching Sanders through the Phantom Shadow.
“Demons discussing etiquette with humans is probably the biggest joke I’ve heard today,” Greya suddenly sneered.
“Demons do have their own etiquette, but only for the strong,” Sebastian glanced at Greya before returning his gaze to Sanders. “I admit, you are powerful. But still, the Void is my domain.”
“I have no intention of making a move against you, but you bringing it up–does that mean you are afraid?” Sanders leaned back in the couch, appearing even more indolent than before.
“I was just saying, we have nothing to do with each other. Even if I cannot defeat you, it’s impossible for you to kill me.”
Sebastian maintained his polite demeanor, not resembling a demon but indeed seeming like a true noble.
However, what he said was also the truth; it was indeed impossible for Sanders to kill Sebastian. No matter how it looks like Sebastian is always behind Asaz, the true him is far off in the boundless Void. Even if one could faintly see his outline, his position couldn’t be pinpointed.
Even if one truly located him, Sebastian’s mobility in the Void would absolutely surpass that of any Wizard. Even faced with Sanders, it would be the same.
That’s why Sebastian, facing Sanders, appeared confident and unafraid.
It was then that Angel spoke: “Do you want to know why we’re aware that you are a fire-pattern demon?”
Sebastian looked at Angel, and though it was just a demon’s Phantom Shadow, one could still see a discerning brightness in his eyes: “Holder of the Mark of Odeclass, I too am interested in you. Will you tell me?”
“It seems you’re familiar with Odeclass.” Angel caressed the mark on his ear, a green pattern flashed, completely concealing the mark: “Then do you know Tandin?”
Tandin? Sebastian furrowed his brows: “I know many Tandins, but I don’t know who you’re referring to.”
Not just Sebastian, Greya also looked at Angel with confusion, who is Tandin?
“Is the name Tandin so commonplace among Demons?” Angel muttered softly, then said: “The Tandin I speak of is a Flame Servitor Demon.”
Flame Servitor Demon.
In the dark Void, Sebastian’s pupils shrank slightly, as if he realized something. However, in the real Phantom Shadow, he remained motionless: “Flame Servitor Demons are mere servants of the flame. As a Pattern Demon, I would absolutely not bother to remember a servant’s name.”
Angel took a deep look at the Phantom Shadow of the demon, although the demon concealed it well, his tone had slightly changed, and Angel sensed that. While verbally he says he does not recognize, perhaps inside he already had some awareness.
Angel didn’t want to continue the cryptic conversation, rubbed his fingertips together, and with a rustling sound, a phantom illusion of a demon appeared in front of him.
However, this demon looked more like a human, draped in a red robe, with an indistinct face.
But as soon as Sebastian saw this illusion, he was startled deep inside.
Perhaps this figure looked ordinary, but how could Sebastian, a Pattern Demon, not recognize it.
“Tandin… Butler.” The Phantom Shadow of the demon slowly revealed the Flame Servitor Demon’s identity. Even though the Phantom Shadow showed no expression, the prolonged pause allowed one to sense his emotional turmoil.
After a while, the demon finally regained his composure: “How did you meet him?”
Angel: “It seems you know Butler Tandin? I naturally met him in the Abyss. Your previous question, wondering why I know about Pattern Demons, do you understand now?”
After a moment of silence, the Phantom Shadow of the demon said: “So, you’ve met a Young Flame Demon…”
“Of course I have.”
“…That little brat, hasn’t he transformed yet?”
Angel knew, the one he referred to was Greerwu. Greerwu’s biggest obsession was to mature through transformation, and it was because of this obsession that he went out of his way to visit Angel’s shop in Lassudral, hoping to use the rhythm of the ocean.
“Initially no, but later on he should be close to it.” Angel said, initially there was indeed no transformation, the ocean rhythm is only suitable for the Water System, and Greerwu, a Young Flame Demon, naturally wouldn’t be effective. However, after Greerwu was nourished by the True Spirit of the Lord of the Flameless that had fallen in the Continent of Yuantan, his transformation should not be far off.
Greya was baffled listening to the conversation between Angel and Sebastian. However, she didn’t think it appropriate to interrupt now, so she could only continue listening with a frown.
“How did you meet it?” Sebastian still found it hard to believe that Angel could know Greerwu. Greerwu is after all the legitimate scion of the Pattern Lord.
Angel: “I’ve answered three of your questions already, you mentioned etiquette earlier. Now it’s your turn to answer since it’s supposed to be a fair exchange.”
Angel paused a moment, continuing with Sanders’s question, he asked: “Why did you choose Asaz as your Sacrificer?”
Asaz was just as curious about the answer.
Sebastian smiled: “I am not human, and I don’t need a reason for anything I do. Moreover, it was never my choice. In other words, do you think it’s the gods who choose their believers, or the believers who take the initiative to worship the gods?”
That was what Sebastian said, but probably only Asaz believed him among those present.
The more he spoke casually, the more it indicated that he actually cared about Asaz more than they had speculated.
If he truly didn’t care, then previously Greya wouldn’t have had to endure the Demon’s Fire released by Sebastian’s true form.
