Outside the teahouse, there was no parking space; Andrew dropped Madeleine off, told her to go in and order first, while he headed to the mall across the street to park.

Madeleine walked up to the entrance of the teahouse and was just about to reach out to push the door when it was pulled open from inside, and a woman hurried out in a rush.

The woman was moving quickly, and she collided with Madeleine’s shoulder, causing the bag she was holding to fall to the ground.

Madeleine and the woman both stopped in their tracks, and then they both bent down to pick up the bag. Madeleine’s fingers touched the bag first, and then she heard a slightly surprised voice coming from the woman opposite her, “Ms. Madeleine?”

The voice was somewhat familiar, causing a jolt through Madeleine’s entire body, and she instinctively tightened her grip on the bag she had picked up. She hung her head low, paused for a long while, then slowly raised her head.

If you were to ask Madeleine who in her life she most dreaded to meet again, it would undoubtedly be Anita Madris.

Because she had once wronged this woman, so she was afraid of running into her.

Yet, life is sometimes so dramatic that the more you do not wish to see someone, the more likely it is that you will meet them unexpectedly.

Madeleine looked at Anita’s face, which had matured much more than three years ago, and with great effort, she managed to lift the corners of her mouth, squeezing out a smile, “Hello, Ms. Madris.”

Compared to Madeleine’s unease, Anita seemed to be much more composed, giving Madeleine a broad and easy smile, “I really didn’t expect to encounter you here.”

Madeleine continued to force a smile, “Neither did I.”

Anita knew in her heart that Madeleine must be here looking for Howard Coleman but still pretended not to and asked, “Did you come here to eat with a friend?”

“Yes.” Madeleine simply responded softly. She really did not have the desire to catch up with Anita, especially since she was never close to Anita even before she had broken up Anita and Howard, so after a brief pause, she directly handed the bag back to Anita.

Anita took it, pulling off a smile, she could see that Madeleine did not want to talk too much, but it was this woman, after all, who had ruined her once perfect romance.

Anita thought back to over four years ago, when she was shown photos of her own sleepover with Howard by Madeleine, and how devastated she felt then, and the scene where Howard’s dad enforced her departure overseas with money, then to her finally coming back to the country, only to be met with Howard’s demand for a breakup, and how just moments ago, as she sat in front of Howard, he hadn’t given her a single direct look…

It was she who had wronged, yet why was it that she ended up losing Howard’s heart to Madeleine?

Thinking this, Anita’s smile towards Madeleine grew more serene and radiant, her tone slightly cheerful as she said, “Ms. Madeleine, I need to get back to work soon, so I can’t chat with you any longer, I’ll leave first.”

Madeleine nodded, truly wishing to part ways with Anita as quickly as possible.

But the next second, Anita said with a smile, “Actually, it’s all Howard’s fault, really, he promised to have lunch with me, but who knew he would be so late.”

Madeleine’s heart, which had relaxed a bit as Anita said goodbye, suddenly tensed up tightly when she heard this.
