Chapter 36: No One Will Like You

Some trauma remains with the victim for their entire lives. Dealing with it alone is often impossible. For some reason, when Jiang Chi saw her like this, he always felt like helping her. He was someone who disliked poking his nose into others’ business.

But to Gu Xiang, he was different.

She was his wife!

He felt responsible if she was not doing well in life. Hearing Jiang Chi’s words startled Gu Xiang. She wasn’t close to him and yet he seemed to be able to see through her.

It must be because of how she was humiliated in front of him that time!

She bit her lip and when she raised her head again, the wetness in her eyes was long gone. Her eyes were dry and still somewhat frivolous. She took his hand away and said, “Mr. Jiang, such flirting does not work with me, please refrain from using these in the future.”

Nice. Jiang Chi realized that his good intentions had been rejected again! He looked at Gu Xiang and he was really impressed!

Not only is she not adorable at all, she seems to be asking for it!

He stretched out his hand and grabbed her wrist. The movement was not gentle and he took her directly into his arms. “As a woman, can you be more gentle? Gu Xiang, look at yourself, I will never like you. No man would like a woman like you who is not gentle!”

After hearing Jiang Chi’s words, Gu Xiang was stunned. What does he mean? Who wanted him to like me?

She snorted disapprovingly. “Oh, how I really wish to be loved by you. Who wants you to like me?! I remember that I also said that you are not the type I like. Mr. Jiang, I’m afraid you have forgotten! Or are you actually looking forward to being liked by me?”

Jiang Chi looked at her behaving in such an incomprehensible manner. He shook her away, stood up, and snorted. “Sooner or later you will regret it.”

Seeing him return to his room, Gu Xiang shook her head helplessly. For the next two days, she didn’t see Jiang Chi. It was as if he had disappeared. When she got up in the morning, he was no longer there and when she came back in the evening, he was not there either.

This continued for a few days and Gu Xiang was happy to be free.

However, in the afternoon, as soon as she came back from the shop after checking her goods, Old Du came up to her. “Hello, Madam.”

Whenever Old Du appeared, he dressed very sharply and he did not look like a butler at all.

Gu Xiang saw him and said, “Uncle Du, why are you here?”

After all, he was a bit older, so Gu Xiang was very polite to him.

Old Du said, “Young Master’s mother wants to see you. I’m here to check when you are free.”

When Jiang Chi’s mother arrived a few days ago, she had said she wanted to see Gu Xiang. However, Jiang Chi was not free at the time, so the matter was put aside. There was no follow-up on their side but the Jiang family couldn’t wait any longer.

After all, it wasn’t easy for them to get Gu Xiang as his wife.

Gu Xiang had thought that although they were married, as long as Jiang Chi did not want to see her, the two would be happy and free. But the Jiang family valued their daughter-in-law far more than she thought.

Gu Xiang said, “Must I meet her?”

Old Du nodded, “You are the young lady of the Jiang family and Madam has come back to see you specially. Also, the two of you are already married. It is only right of you to see his family, right?”

When Old Du talked to Gu Xiang, he was very polite and used a compromising tone.

Gu Xiang listened to him and replied, “Then I shall pay a visit. When is it?”

“Whenever you are free.”

“Today?” Gu Xiang did not like to drag things out.

Old Du answered, “Sure!”
