Chapter 59: They’re Getting Married?

When Ji Hanjiang turned over to help her wipe her lips, she couldn’t smell cigarette smoke on him. Instead, she caught the slightest hint of perfume.

Her intuition could be wrong, but she wanted to confirm her suspicions. However, he had already sat back down, so she didn’t get the chance.

After lunch, Ji Hanjiang dropped her off at work.

She decided to use saying goodbye as an excuse to hug him. Ji Hanjiang was surprised by the gesture but returned the hug nonetheless. Yan Yiren she lay pliant in his arms.

“What happened? Why are you suddenly acting all spoiled?”

“I just got the urge to hug you…” As he held her, Yan Yiren inhaled a few times. She only withdrew from his embrace after confirming there were no traces of perfume on him.

It seemed like her intuition had been wrong.

“I’ll get going now. Drive safely.”

Before Yan Yiren could push the door open, Ji Hanjiang took hold of her hand and pulled her into his embrace. Lowering his head, he gently kissed her face.

Her colleagues were trickling back to work as they returned from lunch. Yan Yiren pushed him away, not wanting them to see.

“Don’t…”

Ji Hanjiang didn’t know what to do with her. Chuckling helplessly, he gazed at her lovingly.

After getting back to his office, Ji Hanjiang stood in front of the window. With a cigarette in his hand, a gloomy expression graced his features.

When he had dropped Yan Yiren off, the hug that she had initiated made him feel guilty.

As well as the guilt, he also had the thrill of having avenged himself

At the thought of that innocence that she had painstakingly saved up for him being stolen by another, his mind filled with rage.

That evening, he called Yan Yiren. As her boyfriend, it was still his duty to care for her.

Even if she had done something that had disappointed him.

He had also done something that let her down. Since that was the case, they were even.

After thinking things through and figuring that out, Ji Hanjiang asked her if she wanted to go to the Yan Family house to visit Madame Yan.

Yan Yiren’s reply to that was, yes!

She hadn’t gone there for a while because she had just recovered. She didn’t want to be tormented by the mother-daughter duo again.

“Let’s visit Grandma together tonight. I’ll go pick you up later. Wait for me.”

“I’m scared that my girlfriend will get bullied again by some members of the Yan Family. Besides, I’m already acquainted with Grandma. I should be expected to visit her, shouldn’t I?”

“Alright, I’ll wait for you.” Yan Yiren thought about it for a moment. It would be good for him to tag along.

At least, with him around, Yan Shudan and her mother wouldn’t dare do anything to her.

After a few days of not seeing Yan Yiren, Madame Yan felt rejuvenated when her granddaughter walked in with Ji Hanjiang.

She couldn’t stop chuckling as she gazed at the two youngsters. She was so pleased that she was grinning from ear to ear.

Ji Hanjiang already acted like the old lady’s grandson-in-law. He gave her massages while cracking jokes, prompting the old lady to praise Yan Yiren for having such a good eye and for picking out such a fine man.

“Grandma, I think that I’m the lucky one. Being able to have a girl like Yiren as my wife is truly a blessing for the Ji Family.”

“Child, you’re sweet-talking Grandma again.”

Yan Shudan, who was standing right outside, was shocked beyond belief. Ji Hanjiang and Yan Yiren were… getting married?!

Unable to overcome her shock, she turned around and went down the stairs in a hurry. After she located Ruan Yufeng, who was in the kitchen cooking up a soup, she called out, “Mother! Mother!”

“What happened Dandan? Why are you running about and panicking?” Ruan Yufeng put down the ladle and held onto her.

Yan Shudan huffed, trying to catch her breath as she tried to recover from the shock. “Mother, I have just heard that Ji Hanjiang is going to marry Yan Yiren! What should we do now?”
