Chapter 1244: Chapter 927: The Puppet Arrives_3
Wu Heng picked up the humanoid doll, inspected its joints and internal magical properties, and felt that it didn’t seem to affect the ghost in any way. He nodded and said, “Possess it!”
Glenda eagerly slipped into the doll’s body. In the next moment, the doll moved robotically, its limbs stiffly twisting as it gradually stood up.
After walking awkwardly for a few steps, its movements became increasingly smooth.
Crack, crack–it shook its neck twice, turned around, and asked, “How does it look?”
“I think it looks great, like a beautiful porcelain doll,” Wu Heng leaned back against his chair, watching her walk back and forth, offering praise.
It was evident that Glenda was genuinely delighted.
Even though she was simply pacing around the room, the happiness she felt was palpable.
The ghost, freed from the constraints of a physical body, had also lost many things. Yet having a controllable body meant there was still plenty she could do.
“I feel it’s pretty good too. The craftsmanship of this Deceit Puppet Master is indeed impressive,” Glenda remarked, praising.
She continued to wander around, hopping and jumping joyfully for a while.
Wu Heng said, “Why don’t you call Bella back? I’ll take you downstairs to meet Mini and the others later. Tonight, we can go to the entertainment hall.”
“Not calling Xiao Xiao back?”
“Xiao Xiao should be playing with Lilith. Let her come back on her own and then deal with her,” Wu Heng replied.
“Alright!” Glenda carefully seated the doll on a nearby chair, then exited the body. The ghost floated out of the room.
Wu Heng sat in his chair, looking at the now-slumped doll beside him.
He touched its arm and felt the smooth, refined texture–just like ivory or polished bone.
Thinking it over, he realized that these dolls didn’t have much practical use, and their cost was undeniably high.
Nevertheless, ghosts had their preferences, and these customizable bodies had a profound psychological benefit for them.
If his ghost liked them, commissioning a few wasn’t much trouble.
While contemplating, Bella followed Glenda back into the room. The moment they entered the study, their eyes fell on the doll sitting in the chair and a wooden coffin resting on the ground.
Wu Heng asked, “Where did you go so early in the morning?”
“The newspaper was being published today, so I went to the tavern to listen to some stories,” Bella said. “Is there anything about me this time?”
Glenda re-possessed her doll and said, “That one’s yours. Go ahead and try it out!”
“Wu Heng, open it for me!” Bella said eagerly.
Wu Heng lifted the coffin lid, revealing another doll inside. Bella eagerly possessed it, standing stiffly just like Glenda had.
…
Netalee City, port.
The passenger ship docked, and a diverse crowd walked down the gangplank–merchants among them, as well as residents returning after fleeing the recent turmoil.
Since the Fifth Princess took charge, the area had settled into stability, and construction had steadily improved.
Upon gathering information, people began returning in droves.
Inside a horse-drawn carriage.
A young man in a brocade robe and glasses took out the Demon Soul Pot, speaking softly, “Mother, we’ve arrived at Netalee City. Should we head to Gold and Silver Island?”
From mid-air, a lazy and seductive woman’s figure materialized. Her voice was soft as she said, “That man has already become a hero. Going after him is inherently dangerous. Are you still planning to go to the island?”
The man hesitated. “Mother, should we reconsider? That Island Master is still a Great Detective. We may not be able to deal with him.”
The ghostly woman’s seductive face became suddenly stern, her voice cold as she said, “Next time you dare speak out of turn, you won’t need to live anymore.”
“Yes, yes!” the man replied hurriedly, panicking.
