Chapter 1242: Chapter 927, The Puppet Arrives
At the auction, someone purchased a large number of special items and tools, and the sisters guessed it must be Wu Heng.
They just didn’t expect him to show up at their place that same evening.
The sisters both smiled.
Even though they hadn’t bought anything at the auction, their man had done it for them.
Wu Heng entered the living room with Shi Yali, and Xi Ligui came over from the opposite direction, all three sitting down in front of the sofa.
Soon, two ornate boxes were taken out and placed on the coffee table in front of them.
The ornate boxes came from the consortium, and they looked quite well-made.
“We’re on Gold and Silver Island; we wouldn’t even get to use such fine things,” Xi Ligui remarked, her gaze still carrying a trace of anticipation.
“Why wouldn’t you? Go ahead and open them,” Wu Heng said, pushing the two special items toward the sisters.
Xi Ligui said, “Why don’t you open yours first?”
Shi Yali, filled with joy, opened the ornate box, revealing an exquisitely crafted, stringless longbow inside.
[Wind Language Longbow (Special Item)]
[Effects: Wind Language, Wind Spirit Physique.]
[Side Effects: Wind Erosion, Unstable Mind.]
(Description: A cyan longbow forged from the bones of wind spirits. When arrows are loosed, they emit an ethereal whistle, as if countless whispers of the wind are beckoning.)
[Wind Language]: Implants all “airflow movements” within the arrow’s range into the target’s mind, enabling detection of the target’s movements. In wind-aligned regions, resonance with the wind allows the user to perceive the direction of airflow-related elements.
[Wind Spirit Physique]: Movement speed increases. Upon sustaining fatal damage while wielding the item, the user is forcibly transitioned into a wind-elemental state.
[Wind Erosion]: Weakens resistance to other elemental attacks.
[Unstable Mind]: While Wind Spirit Physique is active, the wielder’s emotions fluctuate dramatically with surrounding airflow: calm air causes sluggish thinking (Perception -5), while strong winds provoke heightened aggression toward all moving objects, with reduced intelligence further increasing indiscriminate attacks.
Both Shi Yali and Xi Ligui’s eyes lit up. Without even discussing its value as a special item, the bow’s design already appealed greatly to their aesthetics.
“This is for me?” Shi Yali asked excitedly, cradling the bow and brushing her fingers over the intricate wind-pattern engravings along its body.
Xi Ligui rolled her eyes at her older sister and asked, “So this is a special item? What does it do? We weren’t in the auction hall, so we missed the explanations.”
Compared to Shi Yali, Xi Ligui paid more attention to the practical effects of a weapon.
After all, the greatest utility of a weapon wasn’t in how it looked but in its functional effectiveness.
Wu Heng explained, “It has two effects: Wind Language and Wind Spirit Physique…”
He then carefully described the details of the effects and side effects to the sisters.
When they heard that Wind Spirit Physique could prevent a fatal injury, the sisters instantly understood why this gift had been chosen.
It was meant to keep Shi Yali alive.
Special items and tools capable of saving lives were priceless commodities.
The quality at this consortium auction was indeed impressive.
“You really spared no expense,” Xi Ligui said with some astonishment.
“Wu Heng, you’re the best,” Shi Yali exclaimed, throwing herself into his arms and passionately planting a kiss on his lips.
Wu Heng savored the moment quietly, until Xi Ligui gave her sister a firm smack on the butt. “Enough already; you’ll have plenty of time to go wild tonight.”
The two separated, and Shi Yali’s rosy tongue softly licked away the moisture on her reddened lips.
“Now, look at yours.”
Drawing back her gaze, Xi Ligui also turned her anticipation to her ornate box. Upon opening it, a wave of blood-tinged scent wafted out.
[Shark Tooth Sword (Special Item)]
[Effects: Blood Tide, Merfolk.]
[Side Effect: Cheek Disease.]
(Description: Forged from the spine of a giant shark, this reverse-edged blade emits a constant salty, bloody odor.)
The blade was broad and thick, its surface covered in serrated reverse edges.
Just looking at it gave off an aura of ferocity and lethality.
Xi Ligui’s eyes narrowed slightly as she examined the unusual longsword before her, while Shi Yali wrinkled her nose. “It’s so ugly… I mean, it’s unique.”
Xi Ligui raised a brow and asked, “It’s pretty cool. What are its effects?”
Swordsmen by profession often loved collecting various swords as a habit.
Xi Ligui was no exception; her weapon room already housed quite a few weapons, most of which had been scavenged by Wu Heng from the outside world.
Notably, during their last mission, after defeating the Second Prince’s commander, Wu Heng had filled that room with the spoils of war, hanging up all the unused swords for Xi Ligui.
Wu Heng answered, “It has two effects: Blood Tide and Merfolk. Blood Tide grants the weapon tearing damage and allows the user to heal wounds while attacking enemies. Merfolk lets the user transform into merfolk form underwater, enabling free movement in the sea.”
“The only side effect is called Cheek Disease. After deactivating the Merfolk effect, the gills take some time to fade away.”
Shi Yali raised her brows. “That’s a pretty good effect–and suited for Gold and Silver Island.”
Xi Ligui spun the sword with a flourish, the blade leaving a trail of blood-red afterimages. “Not bad; I like it a lot.”
She flicked the sword with her finger, producing a heavy, resonant hum. “If I’d had this weapon back on Gold and Silver Island, I could’ve driven off those pirates for sure.”
In terms of effects, it differed from the Wind Language Longbow, emphasizing combat in aquatic environments.
With the Wind Language Longbow for the skies and the Shark Tooth Sword for the water, Xi Ligui now had both land and sea fully covered. Even if not for combat, these tools would be invaluable for escape and survival.
After fiddling with their new weapons for a while, both sisters contentedly stowed them away.
Xi Ligui asked, “Are you staying the night?”
“Not going back. I missed you two,” Wu Heng said with a smile.
The sisters both smiled in return, and Shi Yali said, “I have some freshly bought fruit wine at home. Perfect for the three of us to try together.”
