Chapter 1511: Chapter 1609: The Living and the Dead
An ancient being appeared before Fang Lin and the Millennium Corpse Ginseng.
To be precise, this should not be considered human, for it climbed out from a grave head, showing not the slightest sign of life, truly just a corpse.
“OMG, this fellow’s corpse aura is so strong, and despite having been dead for quite some years, the body hasn’t decayed,” whispered Millennium Corpse Ginseng timidly from behind Fang Lin.
Fang Lin did not speak; something eerie was afoot. This dead being, already buried, had somehow climbed back out, and it seemed its past Cultivation was still intact.
“Could it be because of the Corpse Emperor Pill?” Fang Lin silently speculated, flicking his fingers, a beam of light struck the corpse.
The corpse thudded to the ground with a loud bang, a large hole gaping in it made by Fang Lin’s flick.
But in the next moment, the corpse stood up again, the hole in its body restoring to its original state as it suddenly lunged at Fang Lin.
Fang Lin kicked out, a clean and sharp kick that flipped it to the ground.
“Drain it dry!” Fang Lin said to Millennium Corpse Ginseng.
“Right away!” Millennium Corpse Ginseng immediately dashed out, hopping onto the corpse and began to absorb the accumulating corpse aura within it.
As the corpse aura was sucked away, the body trembled violently, seemingly in agony. Fang Lin planted his foot firmly on the corpse, preventing it from struggling.
At that moment, several nearby grave heads exploded, and more corpses crawled out from their graves.
Fang Lin frowned, the Ancient Lamp of Flame God hovering above him, shedding a shower of flames onto these corpses.
Instantly, wails of agony erupted from these corpses; absolutely unable to withstand the flames of the Ancient Lamp of Flame God, they rolled on the ground, sizzling noises emanating from their burning bodies.
An even more pungent stench than that of ordinary corpse decay wafted from the burning bodies, likely to knock out any ordinary person who smelled it on the spot.
However, Fang Lin also noticed these corpses, although being burned, would immediately regenerate any parts that were destroyed, completely unable to be thoroughly eradicated.
On the other hand, the corpse being drained by Millennium Corpse Ginseng rapidly withered away and showed no signs of recovery.
“It seems that as long as the corpse aura isn’t gone, these corpses can keep regenerating,” Fang Lin said rather surprised.
“Don’t worry, just leave it to this grandpa. Eat as much as there is; let’s see if they can make me burst,” Millennium Corpse Ginseng declared with overwhelming confidence.
Boom!!!
Just then, a gale howled into being, and a grave with a Stele standing beside it exploded open, a towering figure leaping out.
“What a strong presence! In life, he was one of the Great Long-lived Ones!” Fang Lin swiftly turned around, staring at the towering figure.
It was a middle-aged man, also dressed in the attire of ancient people, his aura much more formidable than the other corpses.
The man swung a palm towards Fang Lin, and as his immense power gathered, not even the flames from the Ancient Lamp of Flame God could touch him.
Seeing this, Fang Lin threw a punch towards the man. In the clash of fist and palm, Fang Lin stood unshaken while the man stumbled backward repeatedly, his arm twisting in an unnatural way, clearly no match for Fang Lin’s formidable physical strength.
But the man was merely a corpse, his bent arm swiftly snapped back into place, and then he charged at Fang Lin once more, an undead-looking creature determined not to stop until it was destroyed.
Fang Lin was fighting with the burly man, who was once a person of Great Longevity, but now that he was dead, he didn’t possess all the power he once had, so he couldn’t compare to a true being of Great Longevity.
But dealing with an undead body that couldn’t be killed was quite troublesome; even if Fang Lin shattered its head, it would recover in a moment.
It seemed that the only way to get rid of these bodies was to drain them of all their corpse energy.
Fang Lin glanced at the Millennium Corpse Ginseng; this guy had just finished draining the first body that emerged and had already jumped onto a second one.
“Freaking hell, the amount of corpse energy in these bodies is ridiculously overwhelming!” the Millennium Corpse Ginseng muttered expletives while absorbing the corpse energy.
Boom boom boom!!!
Several graves exploded in succession, and three bodies of the Great Longevity level appeared.
One of them felt strangely familiar to Fang Lin, as if he had seen this person’s face somewhere before.
After clashing for a while, Fang Lin finally remembered that this person was once from the Pill Saint Palace. Fang Lin had seen him a few times before, hence the vague recollection.
Seeing this person again, even though he hadn’t changed much, it had been a long time, and Fang Lin had lived through two lifetimes, so he didn’t remember immediately.
Recognizing this person as a former member of the Pill Saint Palace, Fang Lin felt quite conflicted, but since the other party was already dead, Fang Lin had no reservations about fighting.
“Why are all the bodies here from ancient times? Could it be that this place was once an ancient battlefield, which is why so many ancient people died here? And who then built their graves and erected steles for them?” Fang Lin was filled with doubts, having originally come only to seek the Corpse Emperor Pill, yet he didn’t expect to encounter such a bizarre situation.
More and more bodies emerged, each springing from their graves, surrounding Fang Lin. The strength of these bodies varied: the strong were at the Longevity Realm, while the weaker ones still had Spirit Bones and Spirit Sources.
Although Fang Lin wouldn’t be defeated by these bodies, their increasing numbers and their inability to be killed off completely were starting to become a headache.
Fang Lin also didn’t want to use excessively powerful techniques, as the whereabouts of the Corpse Emperor Pill were still unknown, and if by chance it got damaged, that would be quite undesirable.
The woman in white reappeared, but stood at some distance without joining the attack against Fang Lin.
And by her side, there unexpectedly was another person.
Fang Lin immediately noticed the woman in white and the person standing beside her, his eyes reflecting a mix of surprise and confusion.
It was an extremely elderly-looking old man, wearing tattered clothes, exuding a deep sense of twilight, as if his days were numbered.
But this old man clearly had the cultivation of the Longevity Realm, which seemed incongruent with his lifeless appearance, especially given that a Long-lived One’s cultivation was very prolonged, with tens of thousands of years at their disposal.
The old man was also looking at Fang Lin, and particularly when he saw the Ancient Lamp of Flame God floating around Fang Lin, his murky eyes showed even more astonishment.
“Stop all these bodies,” said the old man to the woman in white beside him.
The woman in white looked at the old man, said nothing, but waved her hand, and the bodies attacking Fang Lin immediately quieted and stood motionless.
Fang Lin stopped as well and looked coldly towards the woman in white and the old man.
“In Ghost Mountain, I never expected there would be other living people,” Fang Lin said icily, his gaze fixed on the old man.
