‘Oh shit!’

Gerald became shocked. He was a mere a sheep herder who had come across a freshly-opened Grey Gate. The empire that was in peace just until two days ago was now experiencing a dimensional invasion. It was an ambush happening across all parts of the empire. But the war did not go as planned for the invaders. The Khalodian Empire was not just a mere country. It was trained through many hardships and disasters and its armies were trained for all circumstances.

Gerald, on the other hand, was about to apply for the army as soon as he returned home this time. Only if it wasn’t for the Gate that had just opened in front of his eyes.

‘Dammit! Why did it open here?!’

Alien species quickly began to come over through the Gate. Gerald bent down at his waist.

‘I blow and run. That’s my job.’

He took up a horn from his waist and blew. A loud and heavy blow came out from the horn, filling the field. The sound spread quickly over the region.

‘Gotta run now!’

He had done his job of alerting everyone, so he had to run now. Gerald began to run quickly down the field. But there were alien races already chasing him from behind. However, they weren’t running on foot like Gerald. They were riding a grotesque horse-like animal that ran faster than its counterpart.

“Ugh! I don’t wanna die! I don’t wanna die!!”

The sound seemed to be coming closer and closer when he tripped and threw himself down on the ground.

“Argh!”

His arm snapped as he dropped and his skin was pulled by the gravel. With that, horses came around him and five enemies circled him. They spoke to each other and one of them shot up its spear.

‘Fuck!’

Gerald knew what they were doing. He was going to meet his end. But suddenly, blood splattered all over Gerald’s body and the alien who had raised its spear fell. Then shots rang multiple times against the blue transparent barrier that surrounded the aliens.

“What the hell are you doing! Get out of there now!”

Gerald then heard a voice shouting at him and saw a man in camouflage already next to him in the bushes.

“B-but my arm!”

The man checked Gerald’s broken arm. He took out a bottle and poured over the arm before he finally snapped it back in.

“UGH!”

Gerald then felt his arm immediately being healed.

“Potion?”

“Let’s go!”

As they began to run, the man shouted, “I got the boy! Fall back!”

“Give them a big one! Fall back!”

The cannons called RPGs were fired, destroying blue barriers and killing the aliens. The remaining aliens began to run and soldiers began retreating.

‘Dammit. They’re here too. Did you report?”

“Yes, sir. This is the 31st place.”

“Dammit. The whole empire is being attacked!”

“We have a reinforcements coming from the Earth.”

“Goblins?”

“Yes, sir. There are lots.”
