Suddenly, the mobile phone on the bedside table rang. Lu Zhanbei’s eyebrows were creased with a hint of annoyance at being disturbed. He leaned over and grabbed his mobile phone. Without so much as a glance at the caller ID, he rejected the call.
He turned to look at the girl on the bed. Perhaps the ringing had disturbed her. She frowned and turned over, but did not wake up. Soon, her breathing became regular again.
Lu Zhanbei then turned around to leave the bedroom. He called back the person he had just dismissed, his tone a little cold. “What’s the matter?”
The other party sensed Lu Zhanbei’s bad mood. Without further delay, he immediately reported the situation. “Miss Tong went back to her room after watching a movie in the afternoon. Lu Zhanbei was about to hang up when the person on the other end asked again, “Are we going to cancel the appointment with Miss Su tomorrow afternoon?”

“Okay.”
Lu Zhanbei hung up the call and realized there was an unread message on WeChat.
He clicked on it.
It was a friend request.
There were two friend requests from the same person.
‘I am Tong Yi.’
‘If you don’t accept my friend request, it means that you like me.’
Lu Zhanbei stared at the two messages for a moment before he finally clicked ‘accept’ on the latest friend request.
The next day.
Tong Yi opened her eyes. Looking at her unfamiliar surroundings, she felt a moment of confusion.
After a few seconds, her thoughts cleared. She immediately sat up and looked around.
Wasn’t she watching television on the couch?
How did she end up sleeping in the bedroom?
Tong Yi threw off the blanket and got up from the bed. She opened the door and saw Lu Zhanbei sitting on the couch reading some documents.
He was wearing the same gray shirt. He seemed to like this color.
He was bathed in the clear light. The side profile of his face was chiseled and smooth, and his thin lips were slightly pursed. His quiet appearance was the same as Lu Zhanbei in real life. He looked cultured and refined, exuding a warm and peaceful aura.
As if he had heard some movement, he turned to look at her. His initial gentle and elegant aura was instantly replaced by a sharp and oppressive gaze.
“You’re awake?”
Tong Yi nodded and stood unmoving at the door. “When did you come back?”
“Last night.” As he spoke, he turned his head back and signed the document with a pen.
“Did you…”
Tong Yi thought silently in her heart, ‘Did you carry me into the bedroom?’
Pausing for a moment, Tong Yi changed her question. “How did I end up sleeping in the bedroom?”
“I don’t know.” The man’s tone was dull, he did not even raise his head as he answered her.
Initially, Tong Yi had thought that Lu Zhanbei must have been the one who had carried her into the bedroom because there were only two of them in the room. However, upon seeing his nonchalant reaction, coupled with his usual indifferent attitude toward her, Tong Yi felt like she was overthinking things.
‘Could it have been a hotel attendant?’
‘Or did I sleepwalk?’
Tong Yi frowned as she walked toward the bathroom, trying to recall what had actually happened. However, she had woken up early in the morning yesterday and had taken a flight. She must have been too tired and had slept very soundly, so she had no recollection of what happened last night.
