Day 16: I’m an Adventurer

Holy Era 6102, Month of the Moon Rabbit, 29th day.Weather: Sunny

My head hurts… Where am I?I scowled and looked at my surroundings. There were other people who had collapsed around me…so many people… Woah, it reeks of ale.…Now I remember. We had gone to the bar in the guild and celebrated late into the night.And then I lost myself and drank for the first time in my life. I had drunk enough to bathe in, I remember that… I feel quite disgusted now.

As I held back the urge to wretch, I heard a sound.When I turned to look, Ms. Marga was sitting on a table, and she was still drinking… I could not feel more exasperated.Also, who was paying for all of this… I…do not have much money.

I left the bar and passed the reception counter. There weren’t many Adventurers here…they were all passed out, I suppose…Even the young man behind the counter looked sleepy…

I went outside to see that the sun was already high in the sky. The weather was very nice. It hadn’t been like this for a while, and so the town felt very lively.

And so without a purpose, I walked alone, down the great stone-paved street.I ended up in a small park.I sat under the shadow of a tree and sighed… What was I even doing?I unsheathed the short sword at my belt. My hand was shaking. My reflection on the blade was a little foggy.

I continued to walk, and just as the sun started to descend, my eyes caught a certain book that was being displayed by the entrance of a small bookstore.It was called Luna’s Aventures, and most strangely, it was, in fact, the book that had caused me to dream of becoming an Adventurer.Memories of reading it obsessively when I was young were revived… I must buy it!However, I was most shocked upon hearing of the price… What a ripoff. While it was no longer in print, this wasn’t even a first edition.And while I did get a discount after some negotiating, it still hurt my wallet.However, I just had to read it.

I then found a cheap inn nearby and shut myself up in my room.

While relying on the light of a candle, I slowly read it page by page.What I found there, was exactly the kind of ideal Adventurer that I had dreamed of becoming.Even when frustrated and crushed, this was an Adventurer who found courage from deep within and continued to move forward.Yes, even if you trip and fall. Even if you stand still, it’s fine.What is important is that you start walking again.

It was suddenly bright, and I raised my head to see that the world outside of my window was no longer dark.…It’s a new morning.I left the inn and started walking towards the Adventurers Guild.It’s fine. I can still do this.
