Chapter 411: Chapter 398: Worldview (3rd Release! Vote for Monthly Pass!!)
Instance Lord’s Dormitory.
The Black Ash Knight kept stuffing pancakes into his body, which consisted only of coal balls.
He had stayed in the dormitory for almost ten days now, his daily fare being the same as the other knights’. Yet he couldn’t regain his original combat strength, stuck in this coal ball state.
“I do not understand, proxy.”
The Matron was fiddling with the new phone Jiang Qiao had bought her, unexpectedly a mechanical fool. Queen Mei had taught her for a long time how to use a phone, but she still hadn’t figured it out.
In the end, she let her sole servant, Wenna, help search for some… information related to the Holy Spirits in the real world.
“The human bodies in the Holy Spirit’s original world have only been developed at the most basic stage, and their technology level is just in the beginning stages… Why don’t you choose beings with higher racial gifts to bestow them with power?”
After searching for information about the Holy Spirit’s original world, the Matron concluded that the Holy Spirits in the real world were really too weak.
The only thing about the reality of Holy Spirits that seemed interesting to her might be their achievements in entertainment, such as video games, movies, and the like–creations the Matron hadn’t seen much during her many years drifting through the celestial maps.
“This…” Jiang Qiao thought for a moment about how to answer the Matron.
“Because those Holy Spirits are primal humans, not beings reshaped by the likes of you from chaos, deities, and extinction units.”
The Black Ash Knight didn’t wait for Jiang Qiao to continue, wiped the pancake crumbs from his cheeks with a tiny hand, and began to counter the Matron’s various views.
“Every achievement of humans in the world of the Holy Spirit’s original form was obtained on their own accord. This is known on the star charts as a Primordial Planet, with no guidance from gods, no intervention from chaos and extinction units; everything stems from their own hands, pure souls and bodies, untampered by any outsiders.”
As the Black Ash Knight spoke, he picked up another pancake and stuffed it into his mouth, saying,
“That’s exactly why they can transform into Holy Spirits! Such primal planets have become exceedingly rare on the star charts, almost non-existent!”
Jiang Qiao seemed to hear some incredible setting again?
“Wait a moment, what do you mean by saying that Blue Star is almost nonexistent on the star charts?” Jiang Qiao was hearing this conclusion for the first time.
In the past, Jiang Qiao had also conducted a test, which was to grant a Magic Thief from Biland Island a player template. Hai Lan was also excited to try this, but the result was that the Magic Thief’s body and soul suffered immense destruction.
The ‘chaos’ part of its body was nearly completely obliterated by Hai Lan’s power.
Since then, Jiang Qiao hadn’t thought about equipping NPCs with player templates anymore, as the Devouring God’s power wasn’t something just anyone could possess.
“You do not know? Proxy, I thought the god had told you,” said the Black Ash Knight, also surprised by Jiang Qiao’s astonished tone.
“I am merely curious…” Jiang Qiao didn’t remember anything about this in Hai Lan’s memory, but Hai Lan had lost most of it, and even finding the Divine Fragments couldn’t restore it.
Many secrets buried in the star charts were part of this mostly lost memory.
“Holy Spirits in the real world are defined like this: their world has no gods. Don’t you think that’s very unusual?” the Black Ash Knight asked Jiang Qiao in return.
Ah? A world without gods is very unusual… What kind of logic is that?
But indeed, Blue Star has no gods, no demons or monsters; Blue Star’s current technological level is indeed poor from the breeders’ point of view, but the Black Ash Knight’s tone suggested he considered Blue Star a great existence?
“On the star charts, all life-bearing civilizations have a godly presence, or rather, the alliance of gods created life in these planes. And those civilizations dominated by technology, most of their tech comes from extinction units and creation sanctuaries,” said the Black Ash Knight, stuffing another bite of pancake into his mouth, revealing a terrifying amount of information in his settings.
“Your meaning is…”
“All, or the majority, of the civilizations on the star chart have their ‘masters.’ This master might be the Pantheon, or an entity known as a Feeder by the holy spirits, or even a civilization of Magic Thieves under the shelter of Chaos. Worlds without ‘masters’ usually cannot cultivate life, hence most beings across the various planes on the star chart have been tampered with by their ‘masters’!”
“Like plane pirates and Magic Thieves.” Jiang Qiao instantly understood the Black Ash Knight’s meaning. Magic Thieves are the most typical example; after being altered by the Crystal Plague, they gained the power to replicate the abilities of others.
Thus, if Jiang Qiao wanted to forcibly transform a Magic Thief into a player, there would only be one outcome for them… death.
“Blue Star has no master; the creatures of Blue Star bear no gods’ brands, nor the coding of a Creator’s Sanctuary. They depend on themselves to have the civilization they do today, which is why they can create so many interesting things.”
The Black Ash Knight swallowed another pancake into his body as he spoke, clearly enjoying this particular food.
“How do you… know all this?”
Jiang Qiao roughly got the gist of the Black Ash Knight’s words, which meant that most civilizations on the star chart were created either by the side of magic and the supernatural that the ‘Pantheon’ represents, or by the side of technology and machinery that the ‘Creator’s Sanctuary’ represents.
Possibly, the Feeders were also a product of the Creator’s Sanctuary going berserk; that’s why most technological civilizations on the star chart were quite similar, and transcendental civilizations were also under the rule of gods.
Blue Star was an accidental creation… an outlier under the massive organizations of these two entities, and also the original humans in the narration of the Black Ash Knight.
So the electronic games, movies, TV dramas, and even pancakes and candies of the Blue Star might seem very curious to a Transcendent like the Mother, who has lived for thousands of years.
“Did you think that after our gods fell, my survival was controlled by the madness of the abyss?” The Black Ash Knight held a pancake and pointed at Jiang Qiao, saying, “I’ve wandered the star chart for hundreds of years! As a mercenary, a descendant of the Devouring God is one of the most dangerous beings on the star chart. Although the Pantheon and the Creator’s Sanctuary fear me, there are still those within who would hire me. And in such a long life span, I have only encountered one world where original humans were born.”
“How would the Pantheon and the Creator’s Sanctuary deal with such a world plane?” Jiang Qiao considered a terrifying possibility. Could that plane be… the plane where Earth is located?
“To collect and protect, such worlds are absolutely rare commodities on the star chart! They are extremely valuable; you could exchange it with the God of Plunder for countless plunder tokens! It might even be worth more than the fragments of the Devouring God!” After saying this, the Black Ash Knight continued, “So, Agent, cherish the holy spirits you currently have, find ways to make them stronger. That’s the only way you can infuse the power of the Devouring God into these original humans.”
Jiang Qiao nodded slightly upon hearing this, while Mother on the other side also seemed to be deep in thought.
“Agent, do you want to make the Devouring God their master?” Mother asked in a low voice.
“The Devouring God and the holy spirits are partners; if they’re not pleased, they could even come together to overthrow the Devouring God,” Jiang Qiao replied with a smile.
But… to become stronger? Jiang Qiao suddenly remembered how, during his decisive battle with Denghis Xisi, Black Pot Cooking Meat seemed to have grasped some abilities of a second awakening.
But he was still too weak, too weak to bear the power of a second awakening. Jiang Qiao wondered how the people who experienced the Jumping Nucleus now viewed the Holy Spirit game… how they perceived the professions they held.
The power of the first awakening was something any player could withstand and comprehend.
But a second awakening wasn’t as simple as completing an awakening quest. If every player in the entire game successfully completed their first awakening, then it was likely only a small fraction of the peak players would grasp a second awakening.
This was not the outcome Jiang Qiao wanted to see. He needed to find more ways for those players who wished to become stronger to climb higher peaks.
Not just in grinding game levels but also in game mechanics and in delving deeper into understanding their own abilities!
But what Jiang Qiao needed to do now was…
“Mei, you’re going to star in a new CG. This time, the CG’s content is about killing the king of Lionheart City in the actual world of the holy spirits.” Jiang Qiao glanced at the time. The final battle on Biland Island had not ended, but the remaining time all acted as a game event, simply allowing players to farm rewards.
But Jiang Qiao had to start preparing for the reward ceremony after the event, starting with officially recognizing Queen Mei’s title…
