Chapter 340: Can’t we act alone? Chapter 340: Can’t we act alone? First, Shi Lan asked in English which languages the other person spoke.
This fluent, pure British English, where does it come off as merely intermediate level?
Once the manor’s waiter had indicated the languages, she approached the first person and started conversing with him in Spanish.
In just a minute or two, the handsome Spanish guy with deep features gave Shi Lan a thumbs-up and slowly said in Chinese, “Spanish… excellent.”
After that, Shi Lan moved on to the second person, this time speaking in German.
For the third, she used Finnish; the fourth, Japanese; the fifth, Arabic; and the last, Korean.
And the audience on site went from watching the show with amusement to being shocked.
“I really didn’t see this coming,” Xu Yang, one of the twins, said as he patted his brother. “That’s too strong, so strong it’s almost alienating!”
“How can we even play now? The production team really knows how to pick them. They’ve landed a trump card,” Xu Sen added.
And compared to Binbin, who was always bragging about speaking Japanese and Korean, An Lan was the true definition of a dark horse.
After easily handling the six people, Shi Lan turned around and said to the director offhandedly, “If you still don’t believe me, feel free to test me further.”
“No need…” the director was thoroughly conquered.
“Also, I suggest we skip the competition since they’re bound to lose. I know Moscow too well. Now that the game rules have changed, I propose we go back to the theme of ‘Senior Traveler’. I can lead the team and show them the truly interesting, meaningful, and culturally rich places in Moscow. What do you think, Director?”
Listening to Shi Lan’s suggestion, the director was now willing to just roll with it, since they had plenty of material for on-screen conflict anyway.
Furthermore, he hadn’t expected that, after so many years of doing the show, he’d be thrown off rhythm by a newcomer. With her multilingual skills, how could the competition proceed?
“You’re going to be in charge of their itinerary?”
“Then I’ll be the team leader. I’ll only take care of teammates willing to follow my advice and suggestions,” replied Shi Lan.
“I’m good with that,” Sister Xiaojin raised her hand.
Xu Yang and Xu Sen, the two brothers were also eager to join in: “We’ve got no issues either.”
In the end, only Binbin and Perry remained, both of them looking displeased but with nothing to say, having to go along with the group’s decision.
But they weren’t convinced, especially Binbin, who, despite being the standout participant of the trip, felt overshadowed at every turn by An Lan.
She was not content with this.
“In that case, come and have a meeting with the production team to discuss how you plan to lead the team,” the director simply plucked Shi Lan from the group.
“Sure.”
Afterward, Shi Lan was called away by the production team, leaving the rest deep in their own thoughts.
“Knowing so many languages and not saying anything sooner, you’ve wasted everybody’s time and even made the whole production team change the rules because of you,” Binbin complained while sitting on the carpet, but Sister Xiaojin sensed a hint of jealousy.
“If you spoke ten foreign languages, we’d change the game rules for you too,” said Jin Qiu.
“Sister Xiaojin, I… I’m just young and naive, talking nonsense,” Binbin backtracked.
Jin Qiu snorted coldly and rose from the sofa: “It’s about time to get ready to go out. I’m really looking forward to today’s activities.”
Binbin watched Jin Qiu leave before turning to Perry and saying, “What should we do? I’m afraid Sister An Lan will retaliate against us. It doesn’t matter if she doesn’t like me, but what if she takes it out on you?”
“No worries,” Perry said. “I want to see what kind of tricks she can pull off.”
At this moment, the brothers Xu Yang and Xu Sen exchanged a glance after hearing Binbin’s words.
And they finally understood why An Lan and Sister Xiaojin disliked Binbin so much.
Showing off a little ability and deftly using a woman’s disadvantages to bewitch men into standing up for her.
Men’s ability to discern deceit in women isn’t strong. The twins thought that if they hadn’t been working with Sister Xiaojin for so long and known she wasn’t the type to target others without good reason, they might have continued to be fooled by Binbin’s acting.
Ten minutes later, Shi Lan and the guide returned to the living room. At this moment, Sister Xiaojin had just changed clothes and, knowing the director had an announcement to make, hurried back out.
“We’ve just discussed with An Lan, and today she will be your exclusive guide. You have no competitions, no schedules to rush–you just need to follow her and enjoy the Moscow trip.”
Upon hearing this, some looked at the director incredulously.
Especially the twin brothers, accustomed to being played by the show, didn’t believe the producers were that kind-hearted.
“There must be a catch.”
“Go back and get dressed, be ready. We’ll meet in the lobby in half an hour. Today, the guide An Lan calls the shots.”
“Can we know today’s itinerary?” Perry asked, his question entirely for the sake of guarding against being toyed with by Shi Lan.
“No, today all of you need to follow An Lan’s arrangements,” the director denied Perry’s request. “Everyone, get ready.”
“Can’t we act on our own?”
After hearing this, the director looked at Perry and said, “Could you repeat that last sentence to me again?”
“Forget it, Perry, let’s go change,” Binbin quickly pulled Perry back, “Let’s just obey, since we don’t speak Russian.”
The two of them made sarcastic comments, much to the director’s annoyance.
The director originally thought An Lan wasn’t all that great, arrogant with a fiery temper and full of flaws, essentially a walking scandal. But now, compared to Binbin, the director thought An Lan seemed like an angel.
Must be a loose screw in the head of a tycoon to hype up a person like that, right?
Xiao Yue was speechless as well. Originally, Yan Ziqing had written a script for him, and he thought that this trip abroad would be a great opportunity to get back at An Lan. Unexpectedly, now everything was controlled by An Lan’s pace, and even the production team had to follow her arrangements.
Sun Ling stood off to the side feeling quite thrilled–wasn’t it just awesome to have a boss like this at home?
Half an hour later, all the guests assembled in the living room.
Each brought out their own clothing style: the twin brothers were in matching outfits with eye-catching sweatshirts and jackets.
Perry wore a black casual suit with metal elements, looking both cool and aloof.
Sister Xiaojin donned an apricot lace dress with a white blazer, while Binbin was in hip-hop trendy gear, and Shi Lan appeared last, in a chiffon blouse with black suit trousers, topped with a brown trending trench coat, exuding an incredibly sophisticated British vibe, prompting several of the male guests to sneak peeks.
Every person had their own individuality, but only Shi Lan looked like a senior traveler.
“Let’s go, first stop, the Moscow Metro.”
