Chapter 1445: Chapter 1417: Jungle Law of Life and Death
Molly Palmer’s tense expression didn’t escape Kiara’s notice. She gave Mario Yuno a meaningful look, and Camden nodded.
If the referee was their own person, there would be ample opportunity for action.
In fact, Kiara had written not just 10 questions, but 15. Every question from the fifth onward was a trap, designed to intensify the probing based on Molly Palmer’s reactions. As an outsider referee, Mario Yuno only needed to follow Kiara’s subtle cues to pick the answers.
When Kiara wrote the answers, she also employed a little trick. She marked numbers at the end of the answers: if a question didn’t trap Molly Palmer, the next one would be a different trap enticing her to jump in. Mario Yuno simply had to follow the secret code Kiara left to flip through the answers.
Seeing Molly Palmer’s reaction, Kiara felt even more confident. It seemed that Molly Palmer indeed had something to hide, and she had fallen into the trap with this move. There was no need for the backup plans.
Molly Palmer was unaware that Kiara and Mario Yuno were setting her up, let alone that on the other side of the wall, Aka was spying on her with a Bird Watching Device, contemplating what Kiara’s real intentions could be.
“What’s the matter, can’t answer? I thought with all your rich experience, you’d find it quite easy to answer such questions,” Kiara said scornfully, deliberately provoking Molly Palmer.
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about…” Molly Palmer’s heart skipped a beat from the verbal jab, and she forced herself to respond to the question.
It was Kiara’s turn to answer, and she did so with ease. After answering, it was Kiara’s turn to ask, and Mrs. Kiara, already having a plan in mind, dug another pitfall.
“Sigmund Freud’s Oedipus Complex refers to a son’s atypical feelings towards his mother. What is the term for a daughter’s complex towards her father, and what kind of mental illnesses can this complex lead to–”
“Enough!” Molly Palmer interrupted Kiara with a grimace.
Molly Palmer could have considered the earlier probing as coincidental, but this question directly brought up inappropriate relations. It was no coincidence – this butterfly woman must know something, which is why she was testing her with the most basic questions!
Her reaction made Kiara reveal a victor’s smile, and Mario Yuno raised an eyebrow.
He needed to create a banner for his daughter-in-law when he got back, with five big characters: Expert Pit Digger.
“Although our JR and your Farmstead have differing views, we’ve always adhered to the saying, ‘Don’t interfere with each other’s water sources.’ Why must you cling to our secrets!” Molly Palmer had no desire to answer Kiara’s kind of questions, which she believed were meant to mock her.
This masked woman must know the inside scoop, and she had come to deliver a blow!
“What secrets? Aren’t we just having a contest?” Kiara feigned ignorance.
“Hah, I won’t continue this game with you,” Molly Palmer said with a scoff and turned to leave, only for Mario Yuno to extend his hand to stop her.
“What’s this, leaving in the middle of a contest? Are you forfeiting?”
“I have no reason to continue competing with someone who’s deliberately insulting me,” Molly Palmer said, wanting nothing more than to leave.
She wasn’t certain how much the Masked woman knew about the inside story, but she was now frantic to escape quickly.
“You can leave, but per the agreement before the contest, if you lose, you must answer one question of mine,” Kiara declared.
Kiara had dug many pitfalls for one purpose: the question she was about to ask next. It was not only crucial to uncovering the truth behind Molly Palmer’s strange behavior but also related to an answer. It was why Molly Palmer harbored such deep-seated hatred for Aka, a hatred so intense she would risk inducing phobia in Aka and destroy her own twin sister.
Molly Palmer thought for a moment. If she didn’t leave and continued the contest, that shameless Masked woman would have several more opportunities to grill her. It would be better to forfeit and answer one question, rather than enduring the other’s relentless questioning on her vulnerabilities.
Fleeing was definitely not an option; the skills of the masked man were too good. Now Molly Palmer, having no other choice and left alone, could only clench her teeth and agree to Kiara.
“Ask, I give up.”
“My question is–”
The question Kiara had originally prepared should have been, in the intelligence test back then, who had the higher IQ–you or Aka.
If she had asked this, it would obviously have greatly boosted Aka’s confidence, as Kiara suspected that Molly Palmer’s hatred towards Aka might very well be due to some trickery in that IQ test.
But Molly Palmer’s reaction was even more intense than Kiara anticipated; her trap was barely set when the opponent was already desperate to flee. This meant that Molly Palmer had something to hide, there definitely was something off with her Father Complex, and the breakthrough lay right there.
Mrs. Kiara’s mind was working in sequences, concocting plans in the shortest amount of time, and suddenly she had a very bold idea.
So Mrs. Kiara squinted her eyes and, with her vermilion lips lightly parting, uttered a sentence that chilled Molly Palmer to the bone.
“Is your current dissociative identity disorder related to JR’s boss?”
“You bastard!!” At these words, Molly Palmer erupted like a madwoman. She leaped up to grab Kiara but was pushed away by Mario Yuno.
She gasped for air, her face twisted like a demon’s, as though greatly triggered, eyes bulging wide, and such a terrifying reaction, in Kiara’s view, was nothing but endless sorrow. Kiara let out a sigh.
“It seems it really is as I suspected. When you think about it, you too are a victim… Although I sympathize with what you’ve been through, the debtor has a name and the debt has a head; you can’t transfer your hatred to those closest to you because of your own misfortune. Whoever has hurt you is the one you should seek revenge on; provoking your own Milk Sibling, such behavior will only bring disaster upon yourself.”
“You’re talking nonsense, you all are, I didn’t, I didn’t do anything!” After shouting this, Molly Palmer turned and ran away. Mario Yuno thought to chase her, but Kiara shook her head at him.
Watching Molly Palmer’s desperate fleeing figure, Mrs. Kiara’s eyes bore no joy of victory, only an endless sorrow.
The truth of the matter was always so bloody raw; while Kiara stood up for Aka, she also ripped open Molly Palmer’s wounds, but Mrs. Kiara had no regrets.
“Jungle law, it’s either you die or I live,” Kiara sighed softly, looking down the alley where Molly Palmer’s figure had disappeared.
“Mrs. Kiara, what exactly happened?” Aka climbed over from the other side of the wall, followed closely by Zoel Cohen.
Mario Yuno also looked at Kiara curiously, as everyone was unclear why just a few questions could turn the previously normal Molly Palmer into something akin to a madwoman.
“What I mean is, the world we live in also follows the jungle law, it’s either you die or I live, survival of the fittest, the oppression of those on the lower rungs of the food chain by those on top. Aka, the way she treated you, the reason is nothing more than her being hurt by someone on the upper level.”
“I don’t understand…” Aka had a confused look from beginning to end, but she could feel the emotional breakdown in Molly Palmer.
“Let’s go back and talk, I may have to tell you a very tragic yet unworthy of sympathy story. Before you hear this story, you need to be mentally prepared, because the truth is often very cruel–Aka especially, I hope you won’t break down after hearing it.”
Kiara fell silent for a few seconds before finally speaking these words.
She was conflicted about whether to tell Aka the truth, but after a few seconds of hesitation, Mrs. Kiara still decided to be brutally honest.
