Chapter 1438: Chapter 1410: What’s Meant to Come Will Always Come
“Do you really need to participate in a competition of this level?”
In another room of the same hotel, the Mysterious Man wearing a mask asked Akatenango.
As Akatenango was packing her suitcase, she scoffed disdainfully.
“You think I want to be here? It’s only because the boss said there would be a doubles match at the end of the competition. We at JR’s Laboratory train new recruits, and I’m just lending a hand.”
“Condolences.”
At this, Akatenango looked up, puzzled, at the Mysterious Man.
“Are you feeling sorry for my opponent? There’s really no need, I’m only helping with one match. It’s unlucky for these people to face me, but at least it’s just one.”
“I’m advising you to offer condolences.”
Akatenango slammed her suitcase shut forcefully, “You, always deflating your own spirits while boosting others’ courage?”
Could there really be a contestant better than her in this competition?
She didn’t believe it!
“I’m just saying you should be mentally prepared in advance.” The Mysterious Man spoke no more and turned to leave, but Akatenango called out to him.
“Hey, did Seven-Acre Farm send someone this year?”
JR’s Laboratory recruits new people every year, and they always participate in contests like this one to train newcomers, but Seven-Acre Farm has been quiet for many years without any new faces.
“Yes.”
“Who? Why haven’t I heard about it?”
“If you haven’t heard, then look it up yourself.”
It’s that cold attitude again!
Akatenango, unable to contain her anger, stood up to protest.
“Didn’t the boss send you over to assist me?”
No help there, just a professional at hitting where it hurts for N years!
“Not really, I’m just here to enjoy the show. Oh, and although this is an official competition, the Underground Casino has set up bets. I’ve wagered a million that you’ll lose, so don’t disappoint me.”
“Aaaaah!” Akatenango screamed in frustration. If this guy weren’t JR’s second in command, she would really like to smack him!
This has to be a mole sent by the enemy, right?
It must be!
…
Meanwhile, Akate was curiously looking at the closed file in Kiara’s hands.
“Who’s in there anyway, why are you being so secretive?”
“It’s nothing…” Kiara sized up Akate, “Akate, do you feel uncomfortable today?”
“Not at all.” I can eat, drink, and sleep well. If I had to choose an adjective to describe my mood right now…
“I’m feeling especially good today.”
From the moment she left Mr. Zoel, Akate felt her life was full of hope, extraordinarily bright and sunny.
Kiara was puzzled, weren’t twins supposed to have a kind of intuition? The last time Akate was going to meet Tenango, it scared her to a physical reaction.
“Is the distance very far?” Kiara asked Andrew Farmstead ‘Farmstead Farmer’.
“According to our information, she’s staying here,” replied the Farmstead Farmer.
“Who is it? What’s with the riddle-speaking between you two?” Akate still couldn’t understand what they were saying.
“Children shouldn’t meddle in adults’ affairs, go play with my daughter!” Kiara dismissed Akate and spoke in a low voice with the Farmstead Farmer.
“Could it be that her shadow isn’t as heavy on her anymore, so much so that even the feeling is forgotten?”
“It might also be that the sour smell of love is masking the scent of fear,” the Farmstead Farmer accurately judged, and Kiara nodded in agreement.
Exactly what I meant~
Given the circumstances, Kiara decided to probe further.
“How has Akatenango been doing recently?”
The name came out like a curse, and Aka, who was playing with Wendy, instantly jumped up.
“Where is she?! Is she coming over? Maybe I shouldn’t stay here. Zoel, should we move?”
“It’s her who should roll out, if she dares to come, I’ll skin her!” Zoel declared with overwhelming confidence.
It seemed the reaction was still strong, indicating that the psychological shadow was still there. Kiara, seeing Aka so scared, reassured him.
“She’s not a contestant, don’t be nervous.” She was just an assistant for the competition.
“Phew! You scared me to death!” Aka patted his chest and finally calmed down, focusing on playing with Wendy again.
“How could she possibly participate in such a competition?” Kiara whispered to Andrew Farmstead ‘Farmstead Farmer’.
“JR’s Laboratory recruits a large number of newcomers every year, and elder mentors lead these competitions to increase group visibility, choosing capable individuals to assist.”
With that said, Kiara remembered there indeed was a doubles event. If that was the case–
Kiara fixed her gaze on Aka, “Senior Brother, are you a judge-level participant?”
“Hmm-hmm.”
“Judge-level participants can’t assist, right?”
“Hmm.”
“Then that means–”
Kiara and Andrew Farmstead’s eyes simultaneously targeted Aka, causing him to shiver.
“What are you trying to do!”
It couldn’t be what she was thinking, could it?
Why are they all staring at her? You know that’s pretty scary, right!
“I need someone to assist me, Aka, you come.” This would make things very interesting~
Mrs. Kiara was being mischievous again.
“Me? Mrs. Kiara, you must be joking. Don’t you know my level?” How she got into the farm, even Aka herself wasn’t clear
Who knows what the Boss saw in her.
“In the farmstead now, other than Senior Brother, it’s you, Aka. You don’t want me to lose, right?” Kiara looked at Aka with shining eyes.
“I don’t want you to lose, but I really don’t know anything…” Her proficiency was only at a beginner level; she didn’t even understand slightly difficult terminology.
“It’s okay, assisting is actually quite simple. I will prepare you in advance, there won’t be any problems.”
“But I–” Aka still didn’t have much confidence in herself.
“Zoel, you want her to participate too, right? It could help her overcome her inner demons.” Kiara turned her gaze towards Zoel.
Zoel, much more astute than Aka, contemplated Kiara and Andrew Farmstead’s reactions and Kiara’s hint.
He glanced at Kiara, and she nodded to him.
“Give it a try. Just treat it as fun.” Mr. Zoel was persuaded by Mrs. Kiara.
Emma Clark was a very reliable partner at crucial moments, she never let her friends down– those harmless jokes aside, so naturally, Mr. Zoel was on Kiara’s side.
“But what if I lose, and the Boss or Mrs. Kiara get angry?” Aka worried about dragging them down.
“That won’t happen, my opinion is my dad’s opinion. Come on, Aka, it really doesn’t matter.” Kiara enticed her, with Zoel helping to persuade her. Andrew Farmstead also chimed in, and even Wendy, who couldn’t speak, hummed along, giving Aka a baby’s flying kiss!
And just like that, Aka was bewilderingly hoodwinked by everyone.
“Okay, then…Mrs. Kiara, you have to teach me in advance what to do. I feel like I’m going to drag us down at any moment.”
“Don’t worry, this is your battlefield. I’ll help you tackle your inner demons once and for all.” Kiara said confidently. This outing had brought an unexpected bonus.
What was destined to happen would always find its way, just let it all be resolved at once!
But what Kiara didn’t expect was that the turbulence brought by the competition was far from as simple as she imagined. From the moment she set foot on this land, life was about to become anything but peaceful.
