Chapter 769: Chapter 770: Chaos Demon God? (3rd update!)

Sun Wukong had come to meditate in seclusion!

Unlike others, Sun Wukong, being a Chaos Battle Body, found the best way to cultivate was to engage in life-and-death battles with enemies.

But how easily could one find a life-and-death battle? It required an opponent with strength equal to or greater than Sun Wukong’s to stimulate the potential within him, to absorb enough battle qi, and ultimately prove the Tao with strength.

“Proving the Tao with strength” meant, ultimately, to prove the Tao with combat power. Combat power is accumulated through endless battle qi, supplemented by experience from a thousand, ten thousand battles, and finally breaking through one’s own limits in a single fell swoop to become a Saint!

In all Three Realms, very few were qualified to be opponents for Sun Wukong. The Grand Supreme Elderly Lord, Leader of Tongtian, Puti Patriarch, and Tathagata Buddha were among them; the first three being friends and relatives of Sun Wukong, obviously could not fight to the death. As for Tathagata Buddha, Sun Wukong was still waiting, waiting for him to reach his strongest state so he could defeat him and truly extinguish the resentment of two lifetimes in his heart!

Unable to find a suitable opponent within the Three Realms, the only option Sun Wukong could think of was this Chaos Vortex.

This was the edge of the Three Realms, the birthplace of Chaotic Power. Last time Sun Wukong had not ventured too deeply here. After entering the center of the Chaos Vortex and witnessing the battle between Great God Pangu and the Chaos Demons, he hastily departed.

This time, he was determined to thoroughly explore the space within the Chaos Vortex and was certain to have some gains!

No sooner had Sun Wukong flown into the Chaos Vortex than a streak of light flew out from his Ruyi Qiankun Bag at his waist, revealing the figure of the Dragon Scorpion.

“Chaos Vortex? Boss, why have you come here again?”

Dragon Scorpion looked around in surprise. His senses were not wrong; this was indeed the Chaos Vortex, and Sun Wukong had brought him back!

“What, can’t old Sun come here?”

Sun Wukong cast a glance at Dragon Scorpion and retorted.

“Of course not!”

Dragon Scorpion guffawed, having followed Sun Wukong for years and reaped no shortage of benefits. Although he had not yet broken through to the status of a Heavenly Dao Saint, he had already severed his Three Corpses and was close to Attainment of Saint. This was a realm he might not even have achieved if he had stayed in this Chaos Vortex for a lifetime.

Another streak of light shot out from the Ruyi Qiankun Bag, revealing the form of Dragon Cat, who raised his hand and smacked Dragon Scorpion, causing him to retract his head, “Told you to cultivate properly, yet here you are slacking off again! You think I wouldn’t dare to discipline you just because the boss is here?”

“I was wrong, big brother, I was wrong! I wasn’t slacking off. I came out because I sensed the aura of the Chaos Vortex!”

Dragon Scorpion hurriedly shrank his head and explained. Only then did Dragon Cat look around and also express in surprise with gaping mouth, “Boss, why have you come here again?”

“Is there a problem?”

Sun Wukong’s expression grew somewhat displeased. What was with these two? Why on earth couldn’t he come to the Chaos Vortex?

“No problem, no problem at all!”

Seeing Sun Wukong’s stern look, Dragon Cat immediately deflated, hastily plastering on a smile, “I’m just surprised why you came here again, boss. Is there anything left here worth exploring?”

“Of course there is!”

The Dragon Cat mentioned this, and the Dragon Scorpion immediately objected, “This is the source of the Chaotic Power, there are many things worth exploring! The boss must have his reasons for coming here!”

“Dragon Scorpion is right, I always feel like there might be some mysteries here that we haven’t discovered before, like that wall of time and space. I couldn’t break through it last time, but now I can give it another try!”

As Sun Wukong spoke, he steered the clouds toward the center of the Chaos Vortex. The floating island above the Chaos Vortex had already been thoroughly searched last time, and there was nothing worth seeing.

“Huh?”

Just as he was about to reach the center of the Chaos Vortex, Sun Wukong suddenly stopped. He sensed a powerful surge of energy coming from a floating island to the left as if there was a battle ongoing.

“The impact of power at the level of a Heavenly Dao Saint! Interesting!”

Sun Wukong squinted his eyes slightly, a flash of golden light passing through them – his Void-Breaking Starry Eyes were now open. He looked in the direction where the energy was coming from, chuckled softly, and turned to fly toward the floating island from which the power was emanating.

“Such a strong impact of power, what’s going on?”

The Dragon Scorpion also sensed the fluctuation of power from the floating island, his face full of astonishment. He was very clear about how formidable the creatures inside the Chaos Vortex were. Even the creatures on the floating island at the very center of the Chaos Vortex had never reached the Saint Level of the Heavenly Dao.

How many years had passed, and could it be that even this Chaos Vortex had undergone such significant changes?

“A Chaos Demon God?”

Upon reaching the space above the floating island, Sun Wukong immediately saw two figures clashing against each other. One of them was a giant bird made of flame, not a Phoenix, but resembling one – it was the Vermilion Bird!

The other figure fighting the Vermilion Bird, astonishingly, closely resembled the Chaos Demon God Sun Wukong had once seen through the wall of time and space. No, it must be the Chaos Demon God!

The Chaos Demon God was supposed to have been completely eradicated by the Great God Pangu ages ago, wasn’t it? From the Ancient Primeval era to now, a Chaos Demon God had never appeared in the Three Realms, so why suddenly here?

Could it be there was some problem with the wall of time and space? Had it developed a fracture?

Filled with questions, Sun Wukong’s eyes darted around briefly before making a decision. His figure flashed as he rushed toward the battlefield between the Vermilion Bird and the Chaos Demon God. His right hand reached to his ear and pulled out the Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod.

“You demon, take this hit from me, the Great Sage!”

Stealth attacks were something Sun Wukong always disdained. Even if his opponent was the Chaos Demon God, he still had to warn them first.

It was clear that the battle between the Vermilion Bird and the Chaos Demon God was not going well. The Vermilion Bird had suffered serious injuries, and had it not possessed a powerful self-healing ability, it might have already been defeated. Suddenly noticing an external force intervening, the Vermilion Bird withdrew in shock, its entire body wreathed in intensifying flames as it went on the defensive, only to see Sun Wukong’s Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod slamming towards the Chaos Demon God.

“Who is he, and why is he helping me?”

The Vermilion Bird was totally baffled as it saw two figures fly out from Sun Wukong and head its way, the Dragon Scorpion, and the Dragon Cat.

“Miss Vermilion Bird, my name is Dragon Cat, and that’s my boss, the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, Sun Wukong. Leave the Chaos Demon God to my boss to handle. You’re injured, you’d better heal up quickly!”

The Dragon Cat flew in front of the Vermilion Bird, pausing in mid-air under its wary gaze, looking at the Vermilion Bird with a kind and caring face.

“The Great Sage Equalling Heaven, Sun Wukong?”
