Chapter 35 Engagement

In another residence of the Gu family.

“Where is the old madam?” Mrs. Gu asked a servant. After getting her answer that she was in the back garden, Mrs. Gu hurried over.

Seeing that the old madam was watering tulips with a watering can, she raised her voice and called out, “Mom!”

“What? Look at you. What happened this time?” Elder Mrs. Gu was unhurried, her hands continue watering her plants.

Mrs. Gu could not hide her disgust. “I heard that Minghuai had canceled the collaboration with the Jiang family. It was Ning Shan who caused the problem.”

“Minghuai announced that Ning Shan was his fiancée at the banquet.” Mrs. Gu repeated unwillingly and resentfully.

“Clang.” A loud sound startled Mrs. Gu.

The watering can fell to the ground. Elder Mrs. Gu clasped her hands, her face blossomed into a smile. “As expected of Minghuai being such a straightforward person, managing to take Ning Shan in so quickly. That’s good, that’s really good. Since he announced it, the engagement shouldn’t be far away. What should we do to make it grander?”

Seeing that elder Mrs. Gu was deep in her thoughts, Mrs. Gu was furious. “Mom, what are you talking about? If we let that vixen enter the house and let her stir up more trouble, the Gu family will be gone sooner or later!”

In the study room of the Gu family’s main residence, the butler knocked on the door and came in to report, “Fourth Master, elder Mrs. Gu is here. She’s already in the living room. She said that she has something important to discuss.”

“Grandmother?” Gu Minghuai raised his dark eyes as if he knew something. “Go and ask Miss Ning to accompany grandmother. I’ll be there later.”

Not long after, Ning Shan entered the living room and called out happily, “Grandmother Gu.”

“Shanshan, come and sit.” Elder Mrs. Gu waved at her happily.

After the two of them sat down, Elder Mrs. Gu couldn’t wait to ask about the banquet.

Ning Shan hesitated for a moment. “Grandmother, Mr. Gu did say that he wanted me to be his fiancée.”

“I didn’t expect you to act so quickly and take down our Minghuai. Well done,” the old madam said cheerfully. “Since it has been announced, we can start preparing for the engagement ceremony.”

“Engagement?!” Ning Shan blurted out in shock.

“Grandmother, who do you think should handle the engagement matters?” Gu Minghuai asked in a low voice as he pushed his wheelchair slowly downstairs.

Ning Shan panicked and tried to explain, “Grandmother, no, actually, Mr. Gu…”

She wanted to explain that she wasn’t really Gu Minghuai’s fiancée, but was only making it up to help him, but Gu Minghuai stopped her.
