The Ocean gently retorted: “Mountain, why shouldn’t we do this? You and I can exist eternally in this world; even sharing our lifespan with them won’t weaken us in the slightest. Isn’t it better for the world between mountains and seas to be lively?”

The Mountain paused, speechless.

He observed the creatures evolving in the Ocean and sighed: “Ocean, it’s not that I am stingy. It’s just that once these little beings grasp what didn’t originally belong to them, they’ll instinctively crave more.”

The Ocean countered: “What do you mean by ‘originally belong’? Isn’t this infinite lifespan that you and I possess innate?”
