Chapter 451: Chapter 450 Get Out!
The office at the Bin City Municipal Hall, two middle-aged men in suits were sitting opposite each other.
A white porcelain tea set was placed on the tea table in front of them, and one of the middle-aged men with frosty temples was brewing tea.
“It’s rare for Brother Chu Fei to come visit me; once you get busy, you disappear for months. It really is a treat to have you here today.”
Chu Fei received the teacup with both hands and took a sip before replying with a bitter smile, “Don’t make fun of me. The higher-ups suddenly required colleges in various regions to strengthen the students’ practical combat training and enhance wilderness survival training, and I have been stretched too thin.”
“Today, I was able to steal some time and come over to Brother Han’s place for a cup of tea only because I’m applying for field exercise approval.”
“Have you chosen a location yet?”
“Well, it’s strange to say, but applying for a field exercise normally involves procedures and approvals from multiple departments. However, this time it got approved directly…” As he said this, Chu Fei put down the teacup and looked at Han Jiugong earnestly before asking, “I don’t know if Brother Han has any news. Has anything unexpected occurred?”
Han Jiugong gave him a look but said nothing, picking up his teacup and sniffing it lightly, “This snow lotus tea is really good, with a fragrance that is enduring and a sweet taste. It’s a pity that the producing area suffered a snow disaster. This year, we drink one cup less each time.”
At their level, although they enjoyed a strong rapport, there were some things that they couldn’t express outright.
Chu Fei, looking at the residual tea at the bottom of the white porcelain cup, nodded thoughtfully, “Even the best tea has its moments of fading. I hope for a good harvest next year and the chance to drink new tea at Brother Han’s place sooner rather than later.”
“Let’s not talk about these depressing things,” Han Jiugong waved his hand, “I heard that a kid from Yundu is competing in your school?”
“Where did Brother Han hear that from?”
Chu Fei looked at Han Jiugong in confusion. Although it was he who had approved the event, Chu Fei himself didn’t particularly care for such competitions. Bin City University had vast responsibilities and numerous affairs, and he agreed mostly as a personal favor to Li Song.
In principle, this kind of thing shouldn’t alarm the mayor of Bin City, but now he was hearing about it from Han Jiugong, which gave the matter an intriguing significance.
“It’s just a simple contest, could it be that Professor Chen Yixin contacted you?”
“Yes and no,” Han Jiugong hinted, “That kid from Yundu is not as simple as he seems.”
“Some time ago, Chen Yixin’s Antarctic research team achieved a great success, and the news released hinted that it was with the help of a university student.”
“And this Shao Zifeng had just returned from the Antarctic.”
Chu Fei frowned, “You’re saying his records are highly classified not because of Chen Yixin’s influence?”
“Classified records are not that simple. It seems you have become muddled being the university president,” Han Jiugong laughed and tapped him with his hand, “High-level secrecy is a means by the state to protect individuals who have made significant contributions. It’s not so easy to obtain encryption through connections.”
“This…” Chu Fei didn’t know what to say, realizing that he might have underestimated Shao Zifeng.
Han Jiugong glanced at him and sighed as he lifted his teacup, “When she was leaving, Chen Yixin asked me to look after this kid during the national competition. I never expected that in just a few months, he would catch the attention of the higher-ups. What a promising youth.”
Hearing all this made Chu Fei uneasy. He had thought it was nothing more than a simple exchange match and had not paid it much further attention after giving instructions.
But if it was as Han Jiugong said, the gap was truly huge. Setting aside the potential demoralization of the second team, if the kid acted even more arrogantly and provoked public outrage among the students, it could end very badly.
No, he couldn’t just let this be.
Chu Fei stood up from the sofa with a serious expression.
“Brother Han, I must go back and check on this.”
Han Jiugong looked at him with a half-smile and stood up as well.
“I have nothing better to do. I will go and meet this young man myself. After all, he is a junior.”
Han Jiugong mentioned this not because he was concerned about the students of Bin City University, but because he was worried that Shao Zifeng would be mistreated.
There were things he knew but found inconvenient to discuss. Compared to those students, Shao Zifeng was strong, but he was ultimately an outsider here.
Not to mention that Chen Yixin had already asked for his help in advance, if something really happened to Shao Zifeng on his turf, it would be hard to explain to the higher authorities.
…
“Roar!”
Roaring shook the sky above Bin City University’s battleground, overpowering the cheers from the stands.
The intense lights illuminated the dust and large gravel in the air, giving the big screen a veil-like covering.
The well-built Yaya stood still and tall, with its crimson vertical pupils moving back and forth, locking onto a shadow in the dust.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, the sand and dust churned, and a fluffy leg with a whooshing sound of cutting through the air swept over.
Yaya’s gaze flickered, and just before the kick could hit, it evaded the sure-strike with an old trick. At the same time, its two little paws, empowered by the wind element, reached out and grabbed Kung Fu Rabbit’s body.
“Chi–”
In a panic, Kung Fu Rabbit struggled wildly.
A flash of ferocity lit Yaya’s crimson eyes, and it opened its mouth full of sharp teeth and bit down fiercely.
Crack.
The crisp sound of breaking bones rang out, and Kung Fu Rabbit’s body became rigid instantaneously, then slumped limply.
On the big screen, rich, sticky blood trickled down the sharp teeth, assaulting everyone’s senses.
“I concede, I concede!”
The student on the opposite side shivered, shouting the concession in panic, his eyes imploringly looking towards Shao Zifeng.
Shao Zifeng sighed, “Yaya, put it down.”
“Gurgle… Gurgle.”
Yaya’s throat pulsed, its small paws holding Kung Fu Rabbit trembling, as if resisting something.
In the end, under Shao Zifeng’s gaze, Yaya threw Kung Fu Rabbit to the ground.
Inhaling the pungent smell of blood, Yaya was excited but resistant, and it disdainfully thought of wiping it off with its paw; yet, looking down at its little paws, its already fierce mood became even more aggressive.
The doctors who came forward to provide emergency aid trembled with fear, at a loss as they looked towards Shao Zifeng.
Shao Zifeng gave the doctors a remorseful look and beckoned Yaya, “Come here, let me clean you up.”
Yaya’s crimson eyes flickered, and a struggle resurfaced, as it took heavy steps and slowly walked towards the command platform where Shao Zifeng stood.
The command platform at Bin City University was only a little over one meter tall, with a hollow design underneath to minimize the impact of the battle’s aftermath on the Combat Training Masters.
Yaya stood in front of the command platform, the height reaching just up to its chest.
Shao Zifeng took off his jacket and carefully wiped off the blood on Yaya’s mouth, saying quietly, “Can’t stand the taste, yet you use your mouth, let’s see if you’ll change next time.”
“Gurgle.”
His reflection in Yaya’s crimson vertical pupils, Yaya’s mood slowly calmed down.
At that moment, a harsh scolding came suddenly from the previously noisy stands.
“It’s just an exchange competition, no need to be so heavy-handed.”
“With a beast so ferocious, the owner mustn’t be a good person either. What a waste of that face.”
“How can you be so cruel.”
Gradually, those harsh voices formed a unified chant in a small area, overwhelming the voices of most spectators.
“Get out! Get out of Bin City University.”
