Chapter 1335: Chapter 1328: Conditions (2)
Lu’s mother deliberately distracted her daughter, asking Qin Zhiyou to come alone, just to discuss terms. Women in love are blind, and she was afraid her daughter would be deceived by Qin Zhiyou’s sweet talk, so she needed to safeguard her daughter.
Qin Zhiyou hadn’t expected that Lu’s mother would agree; he immediately leaned forward, “What conditions?”
Lu’s mother glanced at him lightly and slowly said, “I don’t care about the situation where our child must take my daughter’s surname or must be surnamed Lu. I also don’t care how you two will get along after marriage. I have only one condition–draft a notarized document stating that all your property will be left to your and Xixi’s child. This means only your child together can inherit your property, no one else can receive a cent. No matter the circumstances, whether it’s a boy or a girl, regardless of how many children there are, and regardless of whether you two marry or divorce or if one of you passes away, this must be followed. If a situation arises that necessitates a change, both you and Xixi must be present to sign off on it together; you cannot modify it alone. As long as you agree, and it’s notarized by a lawyer, I will let you marry her.”
As Lu’s mother said this, she calmly clarified, “Don’t misunderstand, Xixi and I aren’t after this money. If you’re worried about me or my daughter having ulterior motives, you can have a lawyer manage the funds, sending them monthly, ensuring every penny is spent on your child, without any waste. If something unfortunate happens to the child, we won’t pocket the money either. It can be used to establish a charity fund in the child’s name to help those in need.”
Lu’s mother’s point was simple–what good are promises, contracts, and feelings? They are all too ethereal. Some men may promise, ‘Our feelings won’t be tainted by money, purely,’ when coaxing you into marriage, but in the end, money still matters most.
Of course, a man willing to spend money on you doesn’t necessarily mean he truly loves you. But if a man is unwilling to spend money, not even for your mutual child, then he definitely does not love you.
Take Bai Changyou, for example. When he was fond, he took her and their daughter on worldwide trips, providing the best life conditions. But when he became heartless, he didn’t spare his wife or even his biological daughter, Lu Weixi.
In his heart, the Bai family comes first, followed by the son who will carry on his lineage, then his current wife, and only lastly might it include Lu Weixi.
Lu’s mother, hindered by years of divorce and suffering from long illness, realized that during a divorce, it’s essential to fight for as much as possible, not to pretend nobility and simply walk away. Scum will not praise you; they’ll just laugh at your foolishness.
Even though Qin Zhiyou’s previous divorce was somewhat conscientious–he hadn’t stripped everything away from his daughter–he was too flirtatious, and Lu’s mother couldn’t rest easy imagining her daughter remarrying into another dangerous situation. After all, the money would go to her future grandchildren and Qin Zhiyou’s flesh and blood. Perhaps he and her daughter might have other children, or he might change his mind and even have kids with another woman.
That’s why she needed to secure something for her daughter and grandchildren. Even if a grandchild later passed, she would rather donate the money than leave it to any illegitimate offspring he might have outside.
After Lu’s mother had said all this, she looked back and Qin Zhiyou asked, “Is there anything else?”
