Chen Xu took a car to the hotel and immediately saw Luo Xiyun sitting in the lobby. She was dressed in a khaki trench coat today; the weather in Modu was colder, but no woman doesn’t love beauty, and they wouldn’t dress too bulky if conditions allowed.

Luo Xiyun was sitting on the sofa in the lobby, flipping through a magazine. She seemed to sense his presence and looked up, meeting his gaze.

Chen Xu smiled softly and walked into the hotel. Luo Xiyun put the magazine back in its place and stood up.

“Why are you waiting here?” Chen Xu approached and took her hand, asking.

Luo Xiyun reached out to remove a strand of hair from his collar and said, “I just sent a client downstairs and thought you would arrive soon, so I decided to sit here for a while.”

“Client? A man or a woman?”

Luo Xiyun glanced at him and said, “A man.”

Chen Xu laughed, pecked her on the lips, and with one arm around her waist and the other carrying his luggage, they walked deeper into the hotel.

“What about Secretary Guo and the others?”

“They’re still adjusting to the time difference.”

Chen Xu looked at her face, which didn’t seem very tired, but still said, “You should also rest well when we get back to the room.”

At that moment, they reached the elevator, and Luo Xiyun said, “I want you to stay with me.”

“Sure, I’ll stay with you all day today.”

Upon returning to the room, Luo Xiyun pushed Chen Xu into the bathroom.

Since they got together, Luo Xiyun’s obsession with cleanliness had eased. After all, men are sometimes lazy, sometimes careless, and she had grown accustomed to it.

Soon, Chen Xu had finished showering and walked out in fresh clothes, drying his hair with a towel. He didn’t like using a hairdryer; he always preferred letting his hair dry naturally after a bath.

Luo Xiyun was perusing documents in the room. Chen Xu hugged her from behind, nuzzling his nose against her cheek, and asked, “What are you still busy with?”

His stubble tickled her a bit, and she dodged slightly, asking, “How many days have you not shaved?”

“Maybe two or three days,” Chen Xu touched the stubble near his mouth, finding it a bit prickly indeed. He let go of her, sat on the bed, and began to work on his laptop.

Both were busy with their work, silent for a while, the only sounds being the clicking of the keyboard and the occasional turning of pages.

In their dreams, they had been together for over a decade, and intimately so; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that they had spent more time together than many married couples do in a lifetime.

At this stage, they seldom exchanged sweet nothings. In fact, much of their time was like this moment; quietly each doing their own thing with scant conversation.

But for Chen Xu, it felt different from being alone. Having his loved one by his side, even without chatting, just being in the same room brought him a great sense of tranquility.

After nightfall, Chen Xu and Luo Xiyun left the hotel without having anyone accompany them. Since it was a rare visit, they naturally wanted to explore.

Despite the cold, there were many pedestrians on the streets.

The hotel was near the Oriental Pearl, and they didn’t drive but walked there hand in hand, enjoying the surrounding night views and the city’s vibrancy.

In their dreams, they had encountered much high-tech stuff. After joining the game “Second Life,” they had seen plenty of nature’s marvelous landscapes.

Now, what they cherished more was this serene environment filled with human presence.

After touring around the Oriental Pearl, they noted the time and started heading back.

“Tomorrow, do you have time?” Luo Xiyun suddenly asked on the way.

Chen Xu, who had been staring at a couple walking opposite, turned his attention back and said, “I’ve already made plans.”

“What were you just looking at?”

“Them. I was wondering what you were like in high school.”

The couple they had just seen looked quite young, probably high school students.

“Back then, I was completely focused on my studies. Even if I had bumped into you, I wouldn’t have given you a second glance.”

Chen Xu thought about that scenario and couldn’t help but laugh. They were about the same age; when she was in high school, he was also in high school and still in his hometown, so naturally, there would have been no interaction.

Chen Xu laughed heartily, suddenly squatted down, picked her up horizontally, and said, “Like this, I’ll carry you back as an apology.”

This immediately attracted the attention of the people around them.

Luo Xiyun, being watched by so many people, blushed and struggled, saying, “Put me down quickly.”

“Not letting go, not for a lifetime.” Chen Xu held her tight and walked towards the hotel.

Luo Xiyun didn’t dare use too much force, worried about falling, and still clung to his neck.

Chen Xu carried her all the way back to the hotel. It was over a thousand meters, and he only broke a slight sweat.

As they reached the hotel entrance, they ran into Secretary Guo and his group, each carrying shopping bags, obviously having just returned from shopping outside. They were originally chatting and laughing, but fell silent upon seeing Chen Xu carrying Luo Xiyun.

Usually, Luo Xiyun was very strict with the staff and had a stern attitude. In addition to her high competence, although young, she held considerable authority among the staff. Now, seeing her like a little girl being held by her boyfriend, that towering image seemed somewhat collapsed.

Chen Xu noticed her flushed face and felt slightly amused. To Secretary Guo and the others, he said, “Did you go out shopping?”

Secretary Guo replied, “Yes, buying some gifts to take back. Oh, I need to buy some more stuff.” Saying this, he turned and left, and the rest looked at each other and also hurriedly mentioned needing to buy things, then followed Secretary Guo.

Chen Xu shook his head smilingly and entered the hotel.

Once inside the elevator, Luo Xiyun complained, “It’s all your fault, making me lose face in front of them.”

Chen Xu said humorously, “How is that losing face? You are my girlfriend, and everybody knows that. Isn’t it normal for a boyfriend to hold his girlfriend?”

“How is that the same?”

“Alright, it’s my fault. In a bit, I’ll definitely make it up to you.”

“I don’t want that.”
