Ye Shiqing gave Qiao Qiao a deep look and then dragged her onto the bed.

He rested his head on her shoulder, kissed her face, and then attempted to move in on her lips.

Qiao Qiao, frightened, hurriedly hid in Ye Shiqing’s arms, eliciting a hearty yet hushed laugh from Shiqing.

At first, Qiao Qiao was really worried that Ye Shiqing would make a move on her because she could feel the tension in his body. But as time went by, she could no longer resist the onslaught of sleepiness and quickly dozed off.

Ye Shiqing looked at the woman sleeping soundly in his embrace and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Just now, she was terrified to death, but now she’s sleeping peacefully in his arms–isn’t she afraid that he’ll lose control?

How much he wanted her, his body couldn’t lie, yet he couldn’t bear to see her upset, so he restrained himself.

He used to think he had decent self-control, but now, in front of Qiao Qiao, he realized how wrong he had been.

The next morning, before dawn, Qiao Qiao woke up. She snuck out of the villa while Ye Shiqing was still asleep. She observed her surroundings carefully on her way out, and once she was certain that no one was secretly snapping photos, she ducked her head and walked away.

It was after she had gone some distance that Ye Shiqing left the house.

Qiao Qiao had only just gotten out of bed, and he had noticed immediately, but he didn’t disturb her.

Qiao Qiao hailed a taxi and turned on her phone, only to find that it kept pinging with new messages. They were text messages from Ye Xiandong, more than a dozen of them.

The first few were inquiries about her whereabouts, who she was with, and whether she was safe. But then the tone changed to one of accusation, and with the last message, he asked if she was with Ye Shiqing.

Qiao Qiao turned her gaze to the window and let out a light sigh, feeling somewhat lost.

She thought she would only love one person in her life and marry only once. Now it seemed that she couldn’t love Ye Xiandong until the end, nor could she remain his wife forever.

Instead of returning to Ye Xiandong’s villa, Qiao Qiao ate breakfast outside. When it was about time, she went to work.

What she didn’t expect was to find Ye Xiandong waiting outside the municipal government office building.

Stunned, she approached and asked, “Why are you here?”

“Get in the car,” said Ye Xiandong, who had been waiting for a while. He thought he would be very angry, but facing Qiao Qiao’s face, he just couldn’t muster any anger.

“I’m fine, aren’t I?” Qiao Qiao glanced at the time and said, “It’s almost time for work. You look exhausted. Go home and get some rest, and make sure to do your rehabilitation.”

She was about to get out of the car when Ye Xiandong suddenly grabbed her wrist, seeming to be at a loss for words.

She looked at him and asked, “Is there something else?”
