Chapter 516: Chapter 515: The Second Stage
Director Gao’s legs went weak in an instant, and had he not grabbed hold of a nearby pillar, he would have almost collapsed onto the ground.
Bao Jianfeng looked down at Director Gao from his height, sneering, “Director Gao, you are truly formidable, even daring to slap the label of plagiarism onto the head of Mrs. Fu’s own disciple and expel her!”
Director Gao was completely flustered and wanted to say something, but his lips moved for quite a long time without a single word coming out.
Had he offended just the president of the association, there might have been a slim chance of clinging to survival.
But having offended Mrs. Fu, the housewife of the Fu Family…
His career… was truly over…
The entire Chi Family stood there, dumbfounded, struck senseless by Bao Jianfeng’s words.
In the ensuing dead silence, Bao Jianfeng’s assistant drove the car over.
Old Master Chi saw Bao Jianfeng courteously gesture for Chi Gui to come forward.
Old Master Chi didn’t dare to think about what this implied.
–
That very night, the remaining few members of the Chi Family also moved out of the Capital City overnight.
Chi Gui didn’t care what happened to them and couldn’t be bothered to pay attention.
She stayed in the Capital City for a few more days, making sure Luo Qianqian was getting along harmoniously with Mrs. Fu and sorting out matters at the research institute before returning to the M country.
A few days earlier, her assistant had informed her that the research project in M country had completed its first phase and needed to determine the direction for the second phase of the experiment.
Fu Si had returned to M country a few days earlier, and when Chi Guiyi arrived, he picked her up from the airport straight away.
“Research institute?” Fu Sixiu’s long, clean fingers held the steering wheel as he raised an eyebrow and looked towards Chi Gui.
“Wait a moment,” Chi Gui, her head not lifting from her phone, sent something, “Wen Ruan is coming to the airport with the documents; I’ve sent him the address.”
Fu Si: ??
He was slightly taken aback before he saw his beloved Professor Chi unfastening the passenger side’s seatbelt, stepping out of the car, and waving in another direction.
Soon, a man dressed in a beige trench coat, with a tall stature and gentle, handsome features, approached.
He carried a document bag in his hand and, upon reaching Chi Gui, greeted her with a smile, “Professor Chi, you’re finally back.”
His voice, just like his appearance, was tender and lingering; the words were perfectly proper, yet spoken by him, they seemed to carry an unintended soft and flirtatious undertone.
Fu Si’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Chi Gui, however, didn’t feel anything amiss, taking the documents from his hand, quickly reviewing them, and having a general idea in mind, she opened the rear car door, “Get in the car first. Before we head back to the research institute, let’s sort out the remaining issues from the first phase.”
She was the first to take a seat in the back.
Wen Ruan politely greeted Fu Si and also climbed into the car.
Fu Si’s car was quite spacious; Chi Gui and Wen Ruan sat nearly a seat’s distance apart.
Once in the car, Chi Gui immersed herself in the documents.
She pointed to the last line on the first page, “There’s a problem here; with the current progress, if we continue, we’re bound to make a mistake…”
“Which part?” Wen Ruan leaned in closer.
Chi Gui took a pen and marked that spot, flipping to the next page.
“The logical sequence on this page is also flawed; you should have already felt it when you were wrapping up the first phase,” she said.
Wen Ruan lamented, “Indeed… I felt it was very difficult to proceed at that point…”
Both Chi Gui and Wen Ruan were medical prodigies, understanding many things with just a hint, making their communication very smooth.
Fu Si was driving in front, listening to the conversation behind him, feeling more and more unsettled.
He had taken time off work to pick up Chi Gui, just to listen to her and another man chatting non-stop in the back?
While waiting for the traffic light, Fu Sixiu’s long fingers tapped the steering wheel before suddenly speaking up, “Chi Gui, can you come to the front?”
Hearing him address Chi Gui by her name, Wen Ruan reacted even quicker than Chi Gui, turning his head sharply, looking at Fu Si with a hint of astonishment.
“Hm?” After a few seconds, Chi Gui extricated herself from her working thoughts and looked towards the front seat, “What’s wrong?”
Without changing his expression, Fu Si said lazily, “I’m still not very familiar with M country, and if you don’t guide me, I won’t feel at ease.”
