Chapter 460: Chapter 460: Courting Death (5)
When she thought about it, she really owed him a lot of favors. Plus, he was so busy filming that she never had the chance to thank him properly.
“The one who won the Best Actor award recently?”
“He won two.”
“Come on, what’s it to you? It’s not like it’s your business. And it’s just a look-alike, not the real one.”
“Why don’t we just take this patient in? It’s still nice to look at someone who resembles him, right?” The nurse who said this was the same one from before.
Lu Wanwan lifted her eyes, realizing that they never intended to admit this patient in the first place.
What kind of hospital is this?
“Stop making trouble. He’s got a gunshot wound; don’t invite more issues.”
No sooner had the words been spoken than the nurse who had gone to make a phone call hurried back.
“Immediate resuscitation,” she said with urgency in her voice. “We must save him, Dr. Song is on his way.”
“Dr. Song is coming personally?”
“Don’t waste time chit-chatting here.”
As soon as they heard that Dr. Song was on his way, everyone’s attitude changed. They went from planning to do nothing to quickly moving the patient inside.
Even during the whole process, they didn’t spare Lu Wanwan another glance, completely ignoring her presence.
“Excuse me, I’d like to ask…”
After the patient was pushed into the emergency room, the nurse who didn’t go in finally looked over, “You’re the one who brought him here, right? You can leave now.”
“What about the cost?”
The nurse sized her up from head to toe, “Aren’t you just a passerby? The costs aren’t your concern. Don’t worry, if Dr. Song says he’s coming, there won’t be any issue with the costs.”
Lu Wanwan remembered the man’s face, which resembled Bai Lingyun’s, “Can I wait here for a while? I want to wait until he wakes up.”
The nurse’s expression turned even stranger, with a trace of mockery, “Want to get a closer look, or are you hoping he might turn out to be the actor or something?”
“He’s the one I brought in; surely I have the responsibility to wait until he wakes up?”
The nurse shrugged, “Suit yourself.”
After finishing speaking, the nurse walked away. Lu Wanwan took out her phone, intending to call Bai Lingyun.
“Huh? Where’s his phone number?” Lu Wanwan flipped through her contacts over and over but couldn’t find the entry labeled Bai Lingyun anywhere.
She was certain she had saved his number.
After the fourth unsuccessful search, she was sure it had been deleted.
It must have been Gu Annan who, after answering the call the last time, not only deleted the call log but also the contact from her address book.
At a loss for words over Gu Annan’s silent deletion of her contacts, she suddenly remembered Weibo. She immediately logged in, found the previous direct message, sent him one, and waited.
About ten minutes later, a tall woman with an authoritative stride walked over, wearing a white lab coat.
Her hair was tied back into a ponytail, making her look especially efficient, and there was a touch of arrogance between her brows.
When she reached Lu Wanwan’s side, her eyebrows furrowed, “What’s going on?”
The nurse beside her explained, “Dr. Song, this is the young lady who brought the patient. She says she wants to wait until the patient wakes up before she leaves.”
“You’re the one who brought him in?” Dr. Song raised an eyebrow, her penetrating gaze scanning briefly before nodding, “Okay, wait here for a while.”
She entered the emergency room without waiting for Lu Wanwan to say anything else.
Just then, Lu Wanwan’s phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.
“Hello?”
“It’s me.” Bai Lingyun’s voice came through the phone, his usually unhurried tone for the first time sounded urgent, “Where is he?”
