Chapter 1423: Chapter 1423: Impressive But Incomprehensible
Demoness returned to the team and briefed everyone on the situation.
“Things are settled this time,” Mu Zi said with excitement, clapping his hands.
Angel frowned and said, “The other two guilds have ambiguous attitudes; they might very well turn against us.”
Sister Li chuckled, “That will depend on the Chairman’s control ability. We need to show the two guilds our strength while ensuring they see we don’t have the capacity to engulf them.”
Tong Tong tilted her head, puzzled, “How can we control that?”
“It’s simple, Tunnel Worm, if anyone gets hurt, they should first burrow underground. After annihilating the Busan Guild’s team, our army’s surface numbers must not exceed either of the two guilds, but also should not be much less. This way, the initiative is completely in our hands, whether we choose to wipe out the two teams first or cooperate with them to take down the outpost are both excellent choices,” analyzed Feng Yi.
Everyone nodded in agreement. With this strategy, Starfire would indeed be in an invincible position.
“You adults are so cunning,” Tong Tong said, but suddenly interjected with a “Huh”: “The Pirate Guild is really tough, so hot-tempered, they’re actually coming straight for us. Are they trying to catch us off guard?”
“Pirate Guild, naturally strong in their attacking desires. If they want to play cunning, then let’s indulge them,” Li Yao said with a smile as he began to mobilize the Legion. However, to outsiders, the movements of the Starfire Team seemed a bit sluggish, not smooth at all, as if truly unprepared.
The Busan Guild’s people, leading their Legion, charged excitedly towards them, clearly believing they had made a wise decision. Since Starfire wanted to eliminate them, they naturally sought the best opportunity.
Now was that opportunity, at least that’s what they thought, feeling that in this battle they might just defeat Starfire, who appeared to have overestimated themselves.
The battle raged, with forces rapidly depleting on both sides, further fueling their desire to fight.
But reality is cruel. Although the battle seemed evenly matched, with the introduction of the air force and Devil Tyrannosaurus Legion, the Busan Guild’s formation quickly collapsed.
Whether it was the Griffin Legion or the Devil Tyrannosaurus Legion, they were certainly among the best in the current stage for players, and a broken formation meant a massacre.
The Busan Guild then suddenly realized that the victory they thought was within reach was nothing but a dream. The battle continued for half an hour.
The vice-chairman of the Busan Guild seemed to realize something, repeatedly broadcasting on the local or public channel that they had all been tricked, but none of the other two guilds paid any attention.
The great battle eliminated a team from the Busan Guild, but Starfire’s troop losses were also very “heavy,” plummeting to less than thirty thousand.
The other two guilds were quite satisfied with this outcome. Although Starfire won, they felt that Starfire’s combat power was rather average, not to mention their army size was now similar to theirs. Additionally, Starfire’s Tank Legion had suffered heavy losses.
Without the Tank Legion, in their view, Starfire’s attack, although still fierce, would only require withstanding one or two waves and then breaking Starfire’s formation, rendering Starfire’s fragile damage dealers only fit for slaughter. Such a Starfire was no longer a fierce tiger.
“What now, shall we join forces with the two guilds to take down the outpost, or wipe out the two teams first?” Fireworks asked.
Li Yao thought for a moment and said, “Overall, outposts are tough nuts to crack. If the two guilds abide by the recent agreement, then why not join them to capture the outpost? With them distracting the outpost’s forces, we’ll have an easier time taking it down, and then we can defeat them in one fell swoop.”
The vice-chairmen of the two guilds arrived quickly in front of Starfire’s formation.
One of the vice-chairmen said, “Does Starfire intend to honor the original agreement and jointly attack the ninth defense line?”
Li Yao nodded, “Of course, we will honor it. Right now, Starfire’s power is also insufficient. If any one of our guilds attacks the outpost alone, even if we capture it, we won’t have the strength to hold it. It’s better to take down the outpost together, and then use our methods to divide life and death, how about that?”
“That fits perfectly with what Chairman Liaoyuan and I had in mind. To show our sincerity, how about both of our sides send a significant member to the other’s team as a gesture?”
Li Yao was slightly startled, then smirked, “It seems the two of your guilds have formed a life-and-death alliance. You’re lucky. So the vice-chairmen have come here to be hostages, huh? Fine by me.”
“Then who will Starfire send over?”
Li Yao pretended to ponder and then said, “How about Demoness? In war mode, Demoness is our military commander. Is that significant enough?”
The two nodded. Demoness was an ideal candidate. Sister Li and Feng Yi were also important, but their importance lay in guild affairs. For the race for first kills, Demoness was clearly more crucial. Naturally, they had done their research on Starfire’s hierarchy.
“Then, Lady Demoness, please.”
Demoness nodded, summoning her Nightmare Mount and galloping alone into the formation of the two guilds to be held under surveillance.
Both sides detained significant hostages, adding an extra layer of assurance to this alliance.
The three guilds attacked different sections of the wall, with Starfire responsible for the most fierce left flank. This direction had been reinforced because of Starfire’s attacks, with numerous Cannons and even air defenses, evidently to guard against Starfire’s Gryphons.
The only thing puzzling the other two teams was why, after forming the alliance, Starfire insisted on delaying their attack for half an hour.
This baffled the other two teams. After all, there were already teams on the verge of breaking through the seventh defense line.
If any team managed to break through the eighth defense line, they would achieve the same standing and compete with them for the outpost on the ninth defense line.
Moreover, it had been over an hour since the outpost had been occupied by the guild, and yet another half hour’s delay was beyond their comprehension.
Starfire insisted on waiting, and Demoness said if the other two guilds didn’t want to wait, their teams could attack earlier.
What a joke. If they attacked the outpost without Starfire in the game and Starfire abandoned Demoness to strike them from the rear, wouldn’t they be doomed?
So, despite their immense reluctance, they had no choice but to wait impatiently for Starfire.
Naturally, the guild on the outpost was more than happy, as the longer the time dragged on, the more beneficial it was for them. Regardless of Starfire’s plans, as long as they held on for three hours, they could enter the passage.
The passage was the goal. Therefore, the people on the outpost, while remaining vigilant, were all quite cheerful, watching the progress bar of the passage steadily advance.
Starfire has always secured the first kills in the mainline dungeons, naturally making them the top contender. Every popular team that hadn’t occupied a passage had their own broadcast, and the eerily quiet battlefield left everyone wondering what was going on. They sensed that something was amiss.
If you said Starfire had given up on the first kill, no one would believe it. There must be a plot, that’s what all the audience watching Starfire suspected…
